 I am really confused now about how much milk my daughter needs. I have only been bottling feeding her for a few weeks now and she is nearly 4 months old. I have read in one of the baby books that she should be getting 2 1/2 ounce per pound of weight. She is just over 13lbs so I thought she would need approx 33oz.

However I also read in the annabel karmen reciepe book that babies between 4 and 6 months need 21 to 28oz of milk per day.......arrghhh I am really confused now.

Can anyone clarify how much milk a 4 month old baby needs??

I am just worried that I under or over feed her and I don't want to have to take her to get weighed her week just to check she is getting the right amount.

I dont know the correct amount but my Isabella has between 27-33oz per day

on my jar of baby milk (farleys) it says for a 4/5 month old, should roughly be feeding 7 oz of milk every feed.
hope this helps?

It depends on your bby hun aswell as guidelines. Anything between 24oz and 33oz I'd say is pretty much fine.

The lower amount of milk (21oz) is for those babies ta 6 months who are being weaned and are havin bottles cut out. :)

When I had my son my HV said to work it out by mutiplying the weight in lb's (round up or down whichever is the closest) by 2 1/2.

Therefore my Isabelle is nearly 11lbs so should have about 27/28ozs in a 24hour period. She actually has 5, 6oz bottles a day but leaves about 3ozs on her last bottle and she has been gaining a good 7ozs or so a week.

As everyone says though, every baby is different and you will know what your baby wants. If she's still hungry she'll drain the bottle and cry and if she doesn't want it she'll spit the teat out! Try not to worry about it though.

Hope that helps!
