ive asked some of these before but i need to get things moving so here we go again lol

how old was your LO when you got her/him christened?

did you buy godparent gifts? what did you buy?

where did you go back after? pub? home?

did you have buffet and disco? just buffet?

how much do you pay the church/vicar?

have i missed anything?

Summers christening was a couple of weeks ago and she was just about to turn 10 months.

We didn't buy gifts for godparents (they're getting my child if me and OH die what more do they want?!)

we had a party in the garden. I bought a big gazebo, decorated it with pink and white balloons, banners,we played music from the stereo and I mad LOTS of food and put it in the gazebo.

You don't HAVE to pay the vicar but they do ask for a donation so we gave 30 squid.

Hope all goes well

How old was your LO when you got her/him christened? Harrison was about 9 months

Did you buy godparent gifts? what did you buy? No we didn't buy anything for them, they brought things for Harrison but some people do like to buy things

Where did you go back after? pub? home? We went back to ours for a little while then off to a pub where we had hired out a room and paid for food etc..

Did you have buffet and disco? just buffet? We just had a buffet, didn't think a christening is a party

How much do you pay the church/vicar? We didn't have to pay anything but made a small donation

Hmm, I don't think you have missed anything.

That isn't actually how it works, just because they are godparents doesn't automatically mean they get custody of your child, it still needs be written in a will who you would want your child to go to.

Sorry to pinch your thread but do you have to be a member of the church to get your child christened?

Did you buy godparent gifts? what did you buy? No we didn't buy gifts. Everyone bought gifts for Harrison.

Where did you go back after? pub? home? We hired out a function room in a local pub near the church and they did our buffet.

Did you have buffet and disco? just buffet? We just had a buffet and some music was on in the pub, but other than that the christening was all focused around Harrison and was a chance to all have a get together and socialise with family and friends on my boys day.

How much do you pay the church/vicar? We didn't have to pay anything but made a small donation

1. 6 1/2 months.
2. Yes. £50 cinema voucher. They're are a married couple with kids, so we wanted to get them something they could used as a family.
3. We went to a pub with our guests.
4. We had a buffet with cake and alcohal. There was music playing in the background.
5. We gave the priest £30.

I was asked if I was a member of the parish and had to attend a Baptism course before we could get a date.

I hadn't been for a number of years, and attended a Baptism course for 3 Sundays that was just watching a short DVD. xxx

Not strickly true, Oran is getting Christened at the Church my mum & dad attend and me and OH are not members their and have never been their in our lives but the Vicar will Christen Oran without us having to attend, he just wants to come to our house a few weeks before to speak to us. It is a methodist church, I know Catholics you have to attend the actual church at *most* of them

It was actually a joke! I do know how it works :shakehead:
