Typical after weeks of wishing this baby would come out now I need her to stay in for at least another week as my youngest has just developed chickenpox :(:( My dd had it when she was 7 weeks old and that was scary enough without the thought of a newborn catching it - takes a week for my antibodies to pass to her through breastmilk (although that didnt stop dd getting it so beginning to wonder if I am immune??) got midwife this afternoon so going to ask for a blood test.

What bad timing

Poor you

You know the irony is that now you're the one person who actually doesn't want to give birth...

Oh no! Thats bad luck!  I hope your LO's better soon

James had chicken pox around age 2 I think  He didn't look at all ill apart from the spots

Hope blood tests come back ok. Keep us updated.

My sis called today to say my niece has them too, was planning on going to see them today as well.

that must be tough hun

here is me moaning and people on the forum have wee ones to look after and being pregnant.

x

Hope things work out ok for you I have heard chicken pox kids should avoid pregnant ladies, so fingers crossed your newborn is ok. Seems chicken pox is doing the rounds at the mo x

midwife and gp decided not to test my immunity as I know for sure I have had chickenpox (I was 17 not something you forget at that age ) - according to research if the mother has had chickenpox the baby is immune for the first few months from maternal antibodies especially if breastfed - but... my dd got it at 7 weeks. So we have decided to wait and see what happens - if LO doesnt arrive until next week Ben wont be infectious anymore by then anyway - if she arrives before then I will ask midwife at the hospital to speak to the microbiologist and paediatricians for advice adn take it from there.

Thankfully Ben is well - just spotty

Hiya,

I can understand you must be really worried - the maternal antibody thing sounds more promising though - fingers crossed your LO will wait until next week.

My two girlies haven't had it either and I have been slightly concerned as it has been doing the rounds at Rosie's preschool. I had it when I was 14 but still worry; I guess I don't need them both coming down with it right now - we've got enough going on at present!!!

All the best
