My backache is making me cry all night everynight, i thought i would be able to grin and bear it but it seems that if i stay in a position for more than 10mins its like my back has set and its impossible without screaming in pain to get out of it.

Before i got PG i was told i needed physio, because i had done some damage at work ( lifting as a care assistant) i never turned up for the physio and now i'm to chicken to go back to my doc and explain that the pain is now unbearable.

Maybe its time i did something about it, but my mum said shes sure its all going to come back to me having flat feet and not wearing the arches that the hospital made me? Not sure.

I think im having worse back pain because of being stupid in my work as a nurse :(

awww, sara, that sounds awful. You need to back to the doc hun, the baby is only going to put more pressure on you.

Have you tried some paracetemol or going swiming, even just to sit in the baby pool and soak.

i would go back to the doctors hun, they'll be able to give you something a bit stronger for the pain.

i get it now and again and i can sympathise, it is absolute agony :(

 xxx

I've had the same problem and mine stems from pre-pregnancy. I see a sports therapist who gets right to my sciatic nerve, hurts like hell at the time but after a day or so is much better.

Swimming is also fab and stretching before going out on a morning as the cold makes things worse. You could try ice on the painful area, my therapist recommended this to ease things.

Hope you find it eases off soon.

Pregnancy loosens up everything in the pelvic area which is why previous back injuries can get worse. It must be frustrating not being able to rest properly.

Yoga is great for strengthening the back (you learn how to support your back and bend using other muscles like in your legs). There might be some maternity classes in your area but you'd need to talk to your doctor first.

I injured my back when I was 18 which came back to haunt me when I got pregnant first time around. I did yoga for a few years, I feel stronger now and I also learnt how to look after my back.

As mentioned above, swimming helped me loads throughout my first pregnancy. I think it would be worth going back to see your doctor. Hope things get better for you
