Hi ladies!

Just wondered how long did it take for you to feel "yourself" after c section.

i feel im doing ok in the daytimes but come evenings and nighttime feeds i still find it hard as the scar is throbby...

x

I'd say it took me 6 - 8 weeks for the night time uncomfortableness (is that even a word!?!?!) to go. My best bit of advice for you is to wear joggies or jammie bottoms for as long as possible!

If I wore my jeans I was in agony for a few days. I also bought HUMUNGOUS knickers that would come up past my belly button so that there was no seam lying across the wound.

I still have the odd achey day now and then, but it's usually coz I've been wearing proper thick jeans that put pressure on that area!

Definitely recommend this too!!

Took mine at least 5-6 weeks to feel ok.

I wore HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGEEEEEE knickers for about 2 months after because it was so painful. The first 2 weeks were definaitly the worst!! But i was driving at 4 weeks and i just took it really easy because if i did to much it would hurt

I also wore massive knickers and joggy bottoms anything that touched the scar was a no no
i couldnt bend for quite some time and james had to help me in and out of bed and off and on the seatte
And picking up Collier for long periods of time ie at night rocking him to sleep pulled uncomfortably on the scar
I recovered quite quickly after this but still wore the big knickers even now i find if i wae low cut knickers it feels uncomfortable

I dont know if I was lucky or what... but nothing really bothered me. Once I was out of hospital (So 3 days after section) I was walking and climbing stairs as usual, getting in and out of bed, up and down etc. Didnt really bother me tbh. I was back in my jeans 2 weeks to the day after having him, now that hurt abit - I wouldnt reccomend that, and wearing heals hurt for about 3 months, i guess something to do with posture and the scar.

Just take it easy, and get OH to do as much as possible, with highensight id of milked it much more than I did  lol

To be honest wearing jeans never felt as comfy as before I had my daughter. After she was born I brought trousers that were a size bigger than my normal size 12 and these were always a lot more comfy than my normal size as they didn't touch my scar too much or dig in. Loose clothes were a lot better. La Senza do some really nice plain but comfy knickers in a stretchy fabric which i wore all the way through my pregnancy and after the birth.

As my DD is now 19 months I can't remember for certain but I think it was at least a few weeks before I felt comfy in bed again tunring over.

I went for a gental stroll every day with my DD when she was first born and walked a little further each day, by the time she was 4 weeks I was back to driving and managed a whole day out shopping with her. Just take things at your own pace as everyone recovers at a different rate.

Ooh sharne I had been wondering this you know!

Today was the first day I didn't take any painkillers for the section   it just happened naturally as I'd been trying to get off them the last 2 weeks but today I just forgot and I was fine  only took paracetamol for this darn headache I have cos I've got a cold now

I did wonder when you start to feel more like yourself at night...that's the only time I really feel uncomfortable now. And wearing jeans ... I really wanna wear them again I'm fed up of my jogging bottoms

I felt ok once I left hospital (5days) but I was on tonnes of painkillers, I also felt quite achey and week, but the scar was ok - just didn't want to look at it and wore mahoosive knickers - still am. I checked it about an hour ago and the area around there is still fairly numb to touch - but as OH pointed out, all nerve endings etc would have also been cut through, so sensation may take a while.

It took a good 10 days to be able to move ok again, and about 2 weeks til feeling a lot more loosened up again.

My scar did bleed a few times, and MW said if it happened, it was a sign of over doing it and to rest more.

Hope you feel right as rain soon

Now I'm starting to wonder whether I am overdoing things. I have felt pretty good since a couple of days after the section. I stopped taking painkillers when I left hospital and have been out, about and walking the dog without any noticeable problems. My scar has stopped burning when I move in bed mostly now. I am still slower than I would like but I do feel safe to drive (I haven't yet, I need to check with my insurance company that I am insured).

I was wondering the other day whether I feel so great now because I felt so utterly crap and in pain during the end of the pregnancy. I just hope I'm not going to suffer some sort of relapse because I am coping really well at the mo.

Hope everyone else who has had a recent section feels better soon

hi hun,

It took me about 3 weeks to feel myself again after I had Ben.
The soreness should ease off quicker tho

i still have numbness at one end and mine's almost 10 and a half years old...

look after yourself girls...

[mum-mode]you've all just had major abdominal surgery and you are also doing amazing jobs as mummies... look after yourselves.. don't try and do too much too soon and listen to your bodies and take time out if you need to! get in some help round the house and generally spoil yourselves and give yourselves loads of TLC! [/mum-mode]

BIG KNICKERS!!!!! let them become your best friend and don't be suprised if you relish their vast and comfortable supportiveness for a bit longer than a few weeks... pregnancy aside i still have "Big knicker" days if feelin a little AF bloaty

as someone has said.. walking is great - do it lots :)

Emergency c-sections can take longer to get over than electives because electives are all nice n calm n controlled where as emergencies can be all a bit full on - sometimes with a mum critically ill or a mum in the heights of an incredibly difficult labour... relaxed muscles that haven't been working or stressed will be easier to cut through and stitch back up where as muscles that are tense through illness/stress or in the throws of labour (i guess) would be a bit harder to cut through and may take longer to heal from... a friend of mine had an emergency section and an elective one and she said the two were totally different to heal from.. with her elective she was home and up and about with not much pain but with her emergency she was in pain for weeks.

I still get a bit of pain from my c-section scar but i was operated on really bloody quickly! 5 minute jobby we was lol

just take it easy ladies

Much love and speedy recoveries to you all xxxxxxxxxx
