Brings it all home

It does annoy me how people expect ambulances to just come. Being in labour can be very quick and an emergency but generally you get some warning! Unlike a car crash or someone having a heart attack or stroke! I agree pinky, what, apart from cost stopped him calling a.cab!

Oh dear, to be fair I would have rung for an ambulance if I was in labour, and I have a masters degree, though can I say I would only have done it if I was on my own, but if I was screaming so badly that the neighbours thought I was being abused then surely that justifys an emergency? The main reason I wouldnt call a taxi is that taxis in Bristol are blinking useless at coming in good time if they turn up at all, ours usually bother people at the same address in a completely different area of Bristol regardless of how many times I stress where we are.

Star, I suggest you read 'blood sweat and tea' it's a paramedics blog about his day to day job in the ambulance service. I agree if it is an emergency then yes they should get an ambulance and if she had been on her own she would've, but it's shocking how many people use an ambulance as a 'taxi' in labour!
