Try some Rachel Gibson books - they're chick lit / romance
I also liked Susan Andersen books - they're both cheezzzy American but easy going and fun.
(can buy dead cheap from Amazon Marketplace)

The Island by Victoria Hislop was really good (about a leper colony in Greece or somewhere like that!!!)

Would recommend The Lovely Bones, The Time Travellers Wife and the 7 people you meet in heaven for something a bit more thought provoking.

Im a massive David Pelzer fan but i wouldn't call his book chick lit!

Anything by Jodi Picoult, I also have a book called Hannahs Gift, it really is a special book worth reading.

Anything by Dean Koontz but especially the Odd Thomas triolgy.

If you need a little lift try any of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books I love them.

Try charity shops, I pick up most of my trashy paperbacks for about 30p each. They're second hand but usually in really good condition as people only read them once or twice.

Some of my favourite chick lit authors are Jenny Colgan, Freya North, Nick Hornby, Jill Mansell & Wendy Holden. Can't really go wrong at 30p each though, if I don't like a book I can just re-donate it to the shop.

Adele Parks

I love her books they are so modern and every day dilemas-ish!! her books are def worth reading once a start on a book of hers i cannot put it down!!!!!

Olivia Goldsmith

Jilly Cooper

Marian Keyes is good really funny and cecelia Aherne. Also Sophie Kinsella's shopaholic series- theyre good.James Pattersons Alex \Cross books are really good if you like crime books.
