Just wondering,
on all the programmes and info I have been reading, they say the best position for baby to be laying is to the left. Why is this? dont mean to sound dumb :? I thought as long as baby is head down and not back to back then whether it is laying left or right should be ok to deliver. I only ask as my little man is always laying on my right side with legs and arms to left and wondered what effect it would have on my labour if any
Sorry if it seems a silly question

Sherry xx

it doesnt sound like a silly question hun, but i havnt a clue either

Are you sure the stuff you've read didnt say that the best position for YOU to lie in is on your left? I havent seen anything that says baby should be on left but am intrigued to know now

Yes I've read for the mother to lay on the left etc (something to do with it being the optimal position for blood flow and prevening squashing of already squashed organs!) but nothing about baby. When he is head down he'll sort of twist himself around to get out anyway as the pelvis has a knob bit sticking out of the back of it and thus baby starts side ways then twists around again once past it etc....everso clever. Haven't read anything about baby being on the left inside though??

Hi ladies
Maybe I am just taking in way too much info on positions and making my own up at the same time :rotfl: Who knows where my brain is at the mo :)
On the home grown babies last night though, the woman said something about her baby having only just moved over to the left where it should be and now in place and ready for birth. Just wondered that was all. Thanks for your replies though
