And i'm booked in for a cervical stitch tomorrow morning.
The hospital were really brilliant (just to recap - i went for a private scan on Tue and they were worried my cervix had shortened so referred me to the fetal unit at St THomas;s, which really specialises in this area). I saw two consultants, one of which is the UK leading expert and researcher in all things cervical and prematurity, and they gave me so much attention, it really reassured me.
They said my cervix was ok, but that they'd recommend a stitch at this stage as a precaution rather than wait. They also agreed to do the stitch at St Thomas tomorrow, and the expert guy is going to do it for me! ALSO even though i was a private referral, they'll do it on the NHS (phew....i hadnt even figured out how we'd afford it otherwise) and then just refer me back to my usual hospital.
They were much more positive about the outcome of the stitch, and i've come away kind of relieved. SO i have to turn up 8am tomorrow and they're going to fit me in in between all the caesareans!) Obviously still nervous and worried something could go wrong, or stitch not work, but now i really feel the decision has been made for me, and the best person possible is doing it.
Sooo, keep all fingers crossed for me!!! And thanks for kind messages before xxxx
