Finally, here's our story! Sorry it's taken so long girls!!

On Wednesday morning I went up to my local hospital for induction at term + 10 with my community midwife having told me that they'd be able to use the 6 hour gel, only for them to send me home as I was an outpatient induction and there was no room at the inn - with the promise that they'd call me to go back in IF they could.

Feeling thoroughly disheartened, and totally HUGE, I took my Mum to the local shopping centre for a wander around, some shopping and a coffee.
We headed home about 12, and decided that rather than waiting on the phone to ring we'd take my LO and our 3 dogs for a walk/play on the swings and while we were out they phoned me to go back in for 3. EXCITED!

Back to day bed unit and they couldn't get a decent trace on baby so wouldn't even examine me! They had me holding the monitor in place for an hour and a half! Couldn't even relax or snooze as I had to watch the machine to make sure I didn't lose track of the heart rate.

FINALLY after examining me and deciding my cervix was still back, long and practically closed, at 17:22 they inserted the 24 hour pessary - with the warning that they are VERY easy to dislodge.

I went to bed about 9pm in the hopes of actually getting some sleep should something start, but unfortunately went to the loo at midnight and dislodged my pessary. :(

I phoned labour ward and she told me to get some rest and ring back in the morning to arrange to go back in.

BUT! Baby must have been ready to come.

My pains started at about 1:10 and I decided to have a bath to see if I could ramp things up - although I'd left my Mum sleeping at this point as I didn't want to get too excited about nothing. Got out of the bath and at 2am my waters came in a massive gush!
I woke my Mum and Dad and while my Dad was making a cup of tea for us my Mum had a quick bath, but by this point my pains were so intense we didn't have time for a cup of tea.

I rang labour ward at 02:30 and they told me to get organised and head in.

I got to labour ward and straight on to gas and air, and when examined I was 7cm.

At about 4:30 I got the urge to push and 4 pushes later at 04:44 baby Cameron arrived weighing 8lb 7oz.

Unfortunately I lost a lot of blood and spent most of Thursday and Friday totally out of it - although I didn't need a transfusion.
Also had a 2nd degree tear, but didn't need any stitches.

We got home last night at about 7:30pm! Cameron is just perfect and his big brother is totally besotted!
