If it was that bad surely it would have been all over the news... I don't think anyone official would let youtube be the one to tell us all we're doomed.

Not saying it's wrong or anything Xena, just that it's probably been taken a little out of proportion, or the distances they are talking about are a lot further away than they look on the screen thing.

Take with a pinch of salt I'll say... but hey if we're all doomed in 4 days time, I'll hold my hand up in heaven and admit I was wrong

Well I've just spoke to my mate. He's found a planet, got a degree in astropyhsics and is in contact with quite a few professors in the states (the one he found the planets with) So he knows what he is talking about!
He says there is nothing to worry about and whoever made the utube vid, knows nothing! Told me to stop worrying...............(and then told me about an even closer one in 2029! )

on a different note, I'm finally allowed to tell people They are making a film about him and how an undergraduate found a planet. Its so exciting They have the script and are waiting to cast and make the movie. I've know for 2 years but not allowed to tell anyone He's going to take me to the premiere

Its a fact that asteroids and meteorites pass by us ALL THE TIME they are always wooshing about our solar system, any that are pulled into our atmosphere are burned up or are pulled more towards the magnetic pull of the moon....look at all those craters on the moon! There was one in October last year that came close but "close" in context of the solar system is still a long long way away!

That utube vid and the website itself are nothing but scaremongering. Unfortunately some people get a kick out of this

The worst case scenario is a bit of bad weather, we are not going anywhere just yet
