anyone know anything about addisons???

sorry if this is the wrong place to put it just want as many people to see it as possible

some of you know that we have had a few problems with my oldest son in the last few months fainting sickness headaches etc and most of this we have been putting down to stress due to exams etc we have also noticed that his skin has got more and more tanned even though he hasnt been in the sun much and also the bits that are never exposed to the sun have also got darker anyway we took luke to the doctors who couldnt explain it and refferred him to a dermatologist who he seen last month who also couldnt explain it and asked luke to have a load of blood tests to see if anything came up on those because of mock exams etc he didnt have the blood tests till thursday morning and friday morning we had a phone call off the doctors to say he was coming to see us which he did on friday afternoon with the news that they think luke has addisons he has explained a lot about it most of which we dont understand at the time of the doctor visiting luke was ill so doctor checked him over and thought that luke was having something called an addisons crisis and he has been rushed to hospital and given steroids to try and stabalise him and is not allowed out till hes had further tests and been seen by the endocrine doctors after the weekend and his condition is stable the poor lad is terrified hes never been to hospital before

sorry for the long post am in a bit of a state and could really do with talking to someone who has addisons or knows someone who has it we know all the medical side but need to hear the real side if you know what i mean or anything anyone knows that they think could help us all to come to terms with whats happening xxxxxxxx

My sister-in-law works with children with genetic problems but it probably too early to give her a ring at the moment but I will ask her latter if you like?

Rach, Jill recommended this site - its really good and doesnt scaremunger... she hasnt had anything to do with Addisons but reading up on it on here it seems treatable I am sure now they have discovered it he will get the right treatment and be better in no time at all

Oh Rach! I have heard of Addisons but dont know much about it but wanted to give you some hugs! I hope your son is home soon and he gets the right treatment soon!!

thanks everyone we seen the specialist today who is going to do more tests 2moro but says he thinks it will come back as addisons and he spent a long time with us answering our questions and explaining everything to us in ways we could understand good news is hes now stabilised and once the tests come back on xmas eve he should be allowed home as they will know by then what amount of the drugs he needs to take to give him xxxxx
