    Sleeping through... Or lack of...

I think the baby who sleeps 11-12 hours straight when so young is the exception not the norm. Sorry to tell you this hun, but apparently the definition of sleeping through the night is an uninterrupted 6hrs. Jess is 13wks and has only managed 7hrs about 3 times. 11hrs will happen eventually...

    Is it normal?

Yes they are all different. Jess didn't nap in the day until she was about 9 weeks, but at 13 weeks has now decided she won't sleep through any more. We're up every 3-4hrs in the night again. It can all change in a matter of days and I think you just have to go with the flow while they are so...

    Napping woes

Yes, it's a general cry of complaint and her legs thrash around. She cries even harder if I try to restrain her legs.

    Is this wrong / bad?

Does Linzie have more room in her crib in the other room? I found that when we moved Jess into her big cot at 9wk she slept far better than when she was squeezed into her moses basket, plus hubby and I got more sleep without her shuffling next to us. So everyone was better off. I hear that...

    Napping woes

Yes, she has a dummy for all naps and at bedtime. I rock, pat, shush and keep popping the dummy back in. Need three hands sometimes!! The eyelids drop once the dummy has gone in for the 6th, 7th, 8th time and it has stopped her crying long enough. So Jess isn't alone in doing this little...

    Napping woes

Jess was very difficult to nap in her early weeks but now 12 weeks and into a better habit. However, she always seems to need a good cry beforehand. She'll be yawning and rubbing her eyes but will only go off for a nap in my arms, patting and rocking, and once she realises what I'm trying to...

    Sleeping temp?!

Jess's room is about 21-22 when she goes to bed, not lower than 19 in the night, and she has a 1tog bag and two sheets over the top. She seems comfortable at that temp, though her hands get very cold. Maybe just because she always sleeps with them above her head?

    Taggies

I was thinking of getting my DD a taggie. There seem to be two main brands - Taggies, which are about £13, and Slumbertag which are about £8. Is there much difference? Any reviews anyone? Thanks

    Baby swimming classes

I've just signed up my DD for lessons with a dedicated baby swim company who operate at a local hotel so hopefully the facilities will be good. They were recommended by a paediatric osteopath too. £56 for 6 sessions so not a huge commitment. Although I'm only usually a holiday-swimmer, it was...

    All babies this demanding?

Thanks girls. I have today signed up for baby swimming classes, beginning next month. My HV wants me to get out to more groups too and I know that when each day has a purpose it does help me get through it. So I'll do that. She's not a bad sleeper at night, waking only twice, and up at 8am...

    All babies this demanding?

Hi everyone DD is 10 weeks old and smiles and coos loads, seems quite happy generally, but is terribly hyperactive, her legs and arms don't stop moving when she's awake. She has to have constant stimulation and be on the move, jiggling, bouncing and have moving pictures or lights to watch...

    Morning Sickness?

I just asked cos women with no sense of smell at all (more common than you think) tend not to get morning sickness. I've had no sense of smell since birth and indeed I only get a tiny bit of nausea first thing. I wondered if you hadn't had m/s for that reason. Even so, not everyone gets it...
