I have been given a list of 5 clinics to choose from and to be perfectly honest, i don't know where to start with the research.

Anyone used any of the below clinic's or know of anyone that has and can give me some feedback. I want to make my choice by Friday so i can get my form in and on the waiting list ASAP.

- Bourn Hall Clinic - Cambridge
- London Women's Clinic - Harley Street
- Create Health Ltd - West Wimbledon
- Guy's & St Thomas - London
- The Centre for Reproductive and Genetic Health - London

Thanks guys <3 xx

Can anyone help?

On my form it states exactly this:
Bourn Hall Clinic - Cambridge (Satellite Clinics in Wickford and Colchester)
Bourn
Cambridge, CB23 2TN

Cambridge is 1 hour 20 mins drives from where i am and Wickford is 25 minutes from me. Researching the above list, this clinic just seems like it would be best for me. I suppose gut feeling. Obviously the journey wouldn't be ideal - because they have stated Wickford does this mean i can say i want to go for Bourn but the one in Wickford or would it have to be the one in Cambridge?
Just thinking if Wickford wasn't an option they wouldn't have put it on the form??

Sorry guys so new to this so i dont really have a clue.

Should i call my consultant and ask? x

I would call and ask them to make sure.

My clinic was 1 hour 20 min drive (sometimes more if traffic was bad) which was annoying as you can have a few scans and some really short appointments all in the same weeks. So the closer your clinic the better, as long as no one is giving it any negative feedback online anywhere. Maybe do some google searches and see, if no one here has any xx

When i wos looking into it my understanding was the main clinic will do pulling out eggs, transfer. Satellight is just obs / scans. Was for my area anyway.

Thanks ladies.
i spoke with the clinic and they aren’t actually a satellite, they are a full clinic so will be choosing this one :)

No experience with any of those clinics unfortunately.

In my experience, satellite clinics do everything except egg collection and embryo transfer.

As for choosing a clinic location is the obvious big factor as the number of appointments really can mount up so you need to think about time off work etc to attend appointments.

If you want to get started asap, it might be worth a call to the clinics to ask their rough wait time for NHS referrals. I think we probably could have got started within about 3 months of referral. That's south east.

It may also be worth looking to see if any will allow you to visit so you can get a feel for them. All will do open days but obviously that may add to your wait.

Something else I would look at with male factor issues is the qualifications of the consultants who work at the clinic. Most are gynaecologists who go on to specialise though some do have urologists who have a particular interest in male fertility. This was something I learned a bit too late and on the back of a very poor experience with a fertility doctor who clearly had no idea about male fertility! Obviously ours was an unusually poor experience but that is definitely something I wish I'd known.

Hope some of that is helpful to you. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Oh my goodness Char, so much to think about so much choice.

Definitely go with what your gut is telling you.

I really hope the wait isn't too long. I have a friend going through Ivf and I find it so interesting and amazed with what they do.

Xx

To add, you can google each clinic and get a success rate that they have to publish.
Id be inclined to chose closest tho.
You may be able to find wait times for each clinic as well?
Maybe now you have given up & await ivf something will happen? Did with me. Both my BFPS was convinced never ganna happen.
Keep Guafenisin up as it will help sperm & Obviously switching vitamins is going to help & especially not smoking!! Has he stopped Protein shakes? For some reason wos told these r bad for blokes?
Id say focus is on him rather then u for changes, perhaps get urself on a preggers supplement so the switch over isnt drastic in future? And some egg stuff as u want good ones come the time :)
B.O.L!!!

Thanks ladies, it was all a massive blur on Tuesday but i feel confident in all this now. I have researched all of my choices and we choose our selected one yesterday. The form is now with the hospital so to now wait for the letter from the clinic. Ooooo its exciting and nervewracking at the same time.
Have started reading the book 'it starts with the egg' which is really interesting so will be taking as much information from that as i can to make sure that i get my BFP on the first round of IVF. I can do this!! x

I went to Bourn hall for my ovulation induction and they were going to do our ivf, they have satellite clinics but they won’t do much in then, they are mainly just for dr apps. The satellite clinic near me didn’t even do scans so it was a complete waste of time having it! But it was still the closest for me. It’s a nice clinic and I found the drs to be frank and honest. They responded to my emails etc quickly and they even gave me the progesterone after I conceived without their aid.

i would recommend checking out the hfea website, that has the stats for each clinics etc so you can compare: Choose a fertility clinic | Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority

Thanks hun, bourn hall is the choice we made.
I went with my gut feeling and i just felt this was the right one. I spoke with a lady at the Wickford one and they aren't actually a satellite they are a full clinic so this is absolutely ideal for me. 25 mins down the road and their stats were good enough for me xx

Wishing you all the luck!!

Sounds like you had an obvious choice which makes it a whole lot easier.

Hoping it's a good sign.

Where I live we don't have a choose of the clinic as only 1 near by on NHS. I waited for almost 1.5 years from my referal to starting treatment but that's nhs for you... It was a long road... The time this wee baby is born it will have been about 3 years from being refered to having the raindow baby

I’m assuming your long wait was because there is only 1 nhs clinic in your area.
The choice I have gone with, I have heard they get you in pretty quickly so hoping that is going to happen for me x

The clinic was really nice, open and honest I found so I hope you have the same experience x

Good luck char! I’m so excited for you and keeping everything crossed it all works out. You really deserve it x
