My mother and father in law have kindly bought us our pram. Sooo grateful for it. But yesterday when they paid they made the final payment, and the woman in the shop said we could pick it up in a couple of weeks! Then my BF asked where was it going, and I said our house. We will need the car seat, and I want to have a shot of putting it up and down and just having a general play about!
My MIL looked horrified and said its bad luck, I'm not superstitious at all... So this doesn't bother me. She said they will pick it up and keep it at there's...
I really don't want to keep it at there house. There smokers and also my Bf's niece goes round alot and they let her away with anything, so I have imagines of her all over this pram and outside with it... Agh!!!!
What would you do? I don't want to seem ungrateful...

Mines in the garage, not technically the house for this reason could you put it in your or maybe a shed?

Hmm, why not just say you want it kept in the box then as you want the novelty of opening it etc? xx

Ours will be in our basement and actually used to teach the puppy to walk near it without pulling :faint:
We are picking it at the en of this month.

I don't really believe in the superstition that sth bad will happen if you have the stroller at home or not....

Ours has been set up since it arrived a month ago, thankfully we have space in our hall beside the front door, so see it everytime I come in and go out, always makes me smile! I'm not superstitious at all! Totally understandable about the smoking thing, I would be the same, how long til you are due? Could you maybe leave it there for a week or so in the box as Jules says then collect it xxx

What about people who are having a second baby and already have a pram? its a daft old wives tale because the risk labour posed in the olden days and the lack of medical technology meant a lot more babies died and then people had no way of getting rid of stuff, so they didn't buy pram till baby was born. this is what my Nan told me anyway.

Ours is being delivered at the start of July and will be living in the hall. :-) x

Using tapatalk so excuse the typos!

I agree with Em, I know they've bought it, but its for you, so just tell them you'd rather have it at yours so you can get used to using it etc, and that you don't believe in that old wives tale anyway! We haven't got ours coming for another 10 days or so yet and I wish we had it sooner now!

We are picking ours up next month, and we plan to keep it in our lounge (sounds funny but we don't use it everyday as we have a family room). I am not superstitious like you and I think that if you say you would like to get used to using it etc then hopefully they will understand. x

Mine is in the spare room, I didn't even know there was such a superstition about prams until after I'd already had it delivered to my home!

Mine is at my Mum's as she is superstitious about it even thought I'm not! lol x

Exactly what I said! Kept mine in the hall from 6 months preg did me no harm! X

Decision made, I'm just going to have to tell them it's coming here. It's going to be in our concervatory anyway. Not like we don't have the space.

Ours is in the car boot where it is staying permanently! We live in a top floor flat. It was in our hallway for a week tho while I got to grips with it xx

Ours stayed at my MIL house as we didn't really have room and a bit cos of superstition thing. But it was only there because she'd given up smoking a couple months before hand. We brought it home last week so it can have our own 'smell' to it for baby and so the dog can get used to it being around. I was quite happy having it home until really surprisingly my sis said the other night 'oh my god why have u got ur pram here?!' as she still thought it was bad luck so close to birth. She really really annoyed me tbh.

Do whatever you can to keep it at yours, you do not want something the baby will be sleeping in in a smokey environment! maybe even say this to them ........

mine was at my mums but thats only coz were staying there and baby is using carry cot as moses basket x

Hmmmmm.... well... we kept ours at my sisters house, I'm not exactly superstitious but if anything had happened and we had pram at home then would have blamed that, silly I know. Obviously we still have it here but its not new now so don't think it counts lol :)

I agree about the smoking though, wouldn't have left it anywhere that I thought it wouldn't be looked after :) x x

We're going to keep it at ours but not sure where yet as we want to decorate lo's room
So don't want it in there before its all painted!

Mine is getting delivered to my mums house, cause she nearly had a fit when I said we were going to bring it home.
Im not superstitious but she clearly is and as she only lives 10mins away, its no big deal for her to keep it. That being said, I wouldnt allow it either if she was a smoker.
