Is it Santi's birthday today? If so, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
I'm asthmatic and Tom's had several episodes of wheezing after a cough or cold. The doctors won't diagnose asthma in under 2's though.
If he is still wheezing in the morning or you notice that he is breathing rapidly or is struggling to get breath in and out ( if you can see his tummy pulling in under his ribcage) then take him to your GP as he may have bronchiolitis. This is what Tom's had three times now. It's not nice but it's not serious and it's easily treated.
DS is asthmatic, he was diagnosed with baby asthma last December which they're hoping he'll grow out of I think. He's on daily medication for it which we're hoping to cut down once he starts getting it under control, unfortunately every cold goes to a chest infection which is a real setback.
Santi may need a short course of steroids, prednisole, which can help get the wheezing under control. We've found that a course of that in conjunction with antibiotics tends to clear up Alex's infections after about 5 days.
Steam can also help if he's wheezy, take him into a steamy room (bathroom is good ) for a few minutes.
I'd take him to the docs to get him listened to, sounds like he could have a chest infection.
