what do you wish you'd been told before you started TTC?

What would you put in a box of things to give to a sister or close friend to help them as much as possible before they start TTC?

Based on my own experience, I would include:

the Toni Weschler book, TCOYF
thermometer
diary & torch (DH complained when I turned on the light every time I woke to check the time!)
pack of 10 OPK internet cheapies?
Info sheet - mentioning the rubella vaccine, pre-natal vitamins and folic acid, pre-seed, Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor and the fact you can buy them new on eBay for £30 less than Boots, agnus castus (not necessarily to use, but because for ages I wondered why ppl kept talking about it), Fertility Friend, this forum, recommended eBay sellers of internet cheapie OPKs and HPTs...

What else do you wish you'd known about, or heard of, earlier on?

That it doesnt happen overnight & to relax.

If you fancy having an alcoholic drink then just go for it, even if youre in the 2ww.

That actually its very hard to conceive so patience is something you need get used to.

Try not to BD every night or every other, do it when the mood takes you but if your monitoring when you OV then remember its important to BD around that time.

OH MY GOD HOW TRUE IS THAT!!!!!!!!!!

If you dont relax while having s3x then it will be very sore :L:L:L and s3x makes you relaxed afterwards!!!!!!


I know day late but not reading naything into it... basically not testing at all... unless am like 20 days late! Old habbits die hard but am determined not to waste money on pregnancy tests and getting hurt and upset over it all.....

Anyways i have a wedding to pay for so no spending money!

The NHS guidelines to fertility that actually dispels a lot of myths, including a leaflet on Chemical Pregnancies as that can be heartbreaking if you dont understand what it is.

Oh, and more importantly, wet-wipes for when you want to clean up a little but also dont want to move for atleast half an hour
