Hi everyone
Just wondered what people thought of our names.
Our surname is Wilkinson Smith so it will be quite a long name.
When we were having our first baby we chose Niamh Helen if it was a little girl and we are sticking with that.
A little boys name is more difficult:
We think we have decided on Ethan James (although OH says it sounds like a haidressers but I am choosing to ignore that) but we also like Joseph Andrew except that I hate it when names get shortened and OH says everyone will call him Joe which will drive me mad.
Would really appreciate your thoughts

Ethan seemd a bit of a mouthful ( i was sat saying them out loud lol)

People will learn to call him Joesph and not Joe if you tell them

I know a Nathanial and it nevr gets shortened to Nathan

Hi,
I really like Joseph, although when he gets older I'm sure his friends will call him Joe, or some other nickname, you can't really get away from it.
We have a friend, nickname "Daff", which is what I've always known him as. His name is Greg and everyone knows if they're phoning him at home (he still lives with his mum), we all ask for Greg if his mum answers, she doesn't like "Daff".

Joseph was on our list but we didnt choose it because of it been shortened to Joe.

If you think you could live with your son being Joe to his friends, then you can always call him Joseph at home.

I worried about this with Phoebe. Don't mind people calling her Phoeb's but I'll shoot anyone who calls her Fi or Fi Fi

I like Ethan, thats a nice name.

As much as you stipulate to people if you call the baby Joseph, some where along the line, someone is going to call him Joe is just unavoidable I think!

I think Joseph is a beautiful name for a boy, but he will get called Joe. Also bear in mind Joe can be a girls name too, which is my name. I have a male friend called Joseph, I call him Joseph because Joe is a girls name, he calls me Joanne because it is a boys name.
