Hi everyone!

Well I can't believe where the time has gone, Jessica is 6 months old in 9 days and we started weaning a few days ago. She has taken to it quite well, she has solids at lunchtime at around 12:15 I am now giving her about 4oz of milk then her solids then offer more milk, she had the other 4oz's the first couple of days then the last two only had 1. Is this okay?
I was wondering when do I start giving her a solid lunch without milk just water ?,when do i give her the milk she would of had with her meal? and when can i start giving her a 2nd meal.?
Sorry for all the questions just keep getting told conflicting things by books etc.

I can't really help as Ryan's breastfed on demand, but I introduced water with every meal as soon as he started on them. He doesn't take a lot, but even just a bit will help with their poo...

Here's the weaning thread...

At the moment we are on

7am BF
9am BF
11am Baby rice + water in beaker
2pm Fruit pot(s) + water in beaker
4pm BF (not always)
6pm Dinner jar + water in beaker, then 7oz bottle before bed

Beforehand he was on BF every couple of hours.

Hope that makes some sort of sense. I think different things work for different people but I have always gone with "feed them when they're hungry" so if your LO seems content after a solids session, no need to offer more bottle until they ask for it..?

But that's just the way I do it.

People do it differently, pref, I give my boy water with his food, as they can get dehydrated after eating.

He doesn't have a set time on what meal is pureed food and what meal is milk. Usually, though, it's some point in the morning (gets the horrid nappy out the way lol).

It's up to you, how you want to tackle this, people can only tell you HOW they ween/feed their child but they can't tell YOU how to do it.

What is ever best for you and your darling, is what you need to do. Basically, it's a tried and tested method that you will have to go through with her.

melissa was BF on demand, so i never knew how much milk she was getting or if she took less after i started her on solids. at 6 months she was on 1 jar of 4mnths+ fruit puree a day, usually at lunchtime. a couple weeks later it became 2 jars of fruit puree. then at 7 months i got her on 3 meals a day- she has savoury for lunch and dinner now and fruit jars (or yogurts) afterwards (porridge for breakie) at 7 months tho on 3 meals she stopped wanting milk during the day completely. tryna get her on more now coz switched to formula and hv said 300mls a day is not enough!
