Hello,

I've bought a load of bumgenius v3.0 nappies for my first baby due in Aug.

I know a lot of you use reusables and was just wondering if you can recommend the best washing power/liquid to use with them? I know it has to be non-bio.

Also, how are you getting on drying the nappies? We don't have an outside washing line so plan to dry on a rack inside and in emergencies tumble the inside liners.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Many thanks

I used to dry pail my nappies and then wash them in fairy non bio liquid with napisan! I tried soaking them in napisan, but the smell was minging!

To dry them I just put them over the radiator or on a rack, I did use a different brand of nappy tho so am not sure if yours will dry the same! Oh and remember not to use fabric softener, it stops them being as absorbant!

I have an airer and I use Fairy non bio too - I have a tumble dryer that I expect to have to use later on, my TotsBots took all night and half a day to dry on the airer, those ones are quite thick but I have just bought a flexitot nappy which looks like it might dry quicker :)

Just read the warranty info for BumGenius and says is void if the following is used:

A detergent containing additives (enzymes, brighteners, whiteners, dyes, perfumes, essential oils) or natural soap

Contacted Fairy to ask about their non-bio stuff and they said:

I can tell you that the Fairy Non-Bio Liquid does not contain enzymes but does contain brightners and perfumes.

Bummer! I might try the ecover stuff and see how I get on with that... Hopefully it is powerful enough to clean the nasties.

Not sure really how strict you have to be with washing really? Am sure loads of people use Fairy and get on just fine...

The other problem I now have is that I was going to wash my Cheeky Wipes with the nappies but now because of the essential oils looks like I'll have to rule it out.

Ooh why isn't anything easy...

For those of you drying on an inside airer - would you say the room was "well ventilated" ? We live on a ground floor flat and hardly ever open the windows (except when we're in the room) so not sure anywhere in our flat would be considered well ventilated....
