Now that Finn is drinking much more juice rather than breastmilk during the day he's absolutely soaking his nappies in no time at all, including the waterproof wrap! It's not even like I'm not changing him regularly!

What wraps do you use and what is the most waterproof one you have found?

I'm getting rather fed up of having to put him in the "emergency" disposable nappy while we're out or if the other wraps are in the wash and the constant change of trousers.

either a motherease or a weenotions. cally is a really heavy wetter and these are the only ones that can cope

We use mothease air flow. We've only had leaks if there is a bit of nappy poking out.

Just ordered a Motherease one from Ebay to have a go. Will see if I can find a weenotions one. Thanks x

have you ever stripped your nappies kylie?

after a while you might need to do this.. tell me your nappy combination.. if you use boosters etc..

i would..
strip the nappies by putting just the nappies.. no wraps in the machine add 4 table spoons of bicarb of soda and the same amount of white vinigar and wash at 60 degrees.. dry as usual. (baby can wear them after this to) if you are using fairy non bio stop and switch to a different non bio as fairy contains a soap that clings to the fibers and makes the absorbancy decreased.
bamboo nappies arnt as good as cotton imo, they dont absorb more and they take aaaggeeess to dry. try boosting your current nappies it sounds to me like he needs more absorbant layer.. teds needs 6 layers for the day time.. so thats a shapped nappy and a booster folded in half at the front.. or some times 2 boosters flat through the nappy.

and he still needs changing atleast every 3 hrs he wore a disposable the other day as he pood when i was out and i didnt take his change bag with me as was only popping to tesco.. so got a free nappy from tesco and he leaked through it in 45 mins.. so i know he would be out weeing spozies and cloth is better for him

the other thing to try is putting your wraps through the tumble dryer for a while to reseal the PUL.

He's got bamboo ones like bamboozles but they're size 2 so have the booster sewn in that gives 2 extra layers (although I could give him 3). He's also got JJ Finn nappy wraps although has also got a onelife nappy wrap which is doing the same - leaking around the elasticy fabric bit around the legs.

Do tumble dry the nappies on the whole.

give some extra boosting then and strip them all.. they need doing about 5 times a year so they are overdue a go lol..jj was that junior joy? teds got one and it was orite when he was in size 1ns but now he is in size 2s which is what size the wrap is they leak like mad.. maybe try bigger wraps over more boosted nappies

It was the medium size junior joy which was something like 15lbs - 25lbs? (Finn's about 20lbs at the mo).

yeah thats the one.. lol.. leaks like crazy.. thats the emergency pile.. that and my motherease one sizes.. coz he wees them in an hour..if im desperate i use them..i would buy some larger wraps and boost after stripping them.. perhaps buy a few cotton nappies as they are better for older babies, i really dont get on with bamboo at all. teds outwees his little lamb in about an hour.. pointless coz it takes aobut 2 days to dry :(

teds is almost completly in lottiesbotties now..we have a wider gusset than other brands and it jsut seems to hlep the absorbancy.. i dunno coz boys tend to get a stiffy then a jet of loooaaaddsss of wee i found he was widdling through the side of other brands with narrower gussets i guess try and get some reviews of other nappies then take a pick or maybe try and get a few second hands?

Is there any other way of doing this Lisa, I don't have a tumble dryer :? How often do wraps need to be resealed, I've never done it with the wraps but have stripped my nappies. I'm having a similar problem to Kylie with leakage. Cheers :D

im affraid i dont know how else you would reseal them.. the tumble dryer heats the PUL and helps it to reseal do this when they are dry..and jsut tumble them for about 10 -20 mins.. dont you have a friend you could ask if you could do this.. or nip to a laundrette.. they only need doing every now and again.. ive only had to reseal 2 of my wraps and they were 2nd hand ones. try boosting for extra absorbant layer..

damn were going to start using our totsbots reusables after we get back from our hols we dont have tumble dryer :wall:

Im worried about absorbancy now too as collier can fill a nappy with wee or poo with in seconds of having a fresh one put on

You'll be fine for a bit hun, I've been using the wraps for about 8months and am only just thinking they are getting a bit leaky, and thats only around the elastic on the legs. :D

yep.. you will plus resealing them doesnt work for long..e ventually you will need new wraps.. so dont stress aobut it.. try boosting a vbit more and see how that goes.
