So I went today for my dating scan. My husband and i were called up and started to walk down the hallway to the exam room. The tec asked my oh to sit and wait and he would be called in in a bit. I asked her why and she said they like to get all the measurements first and then call in the partner. So she started with the scn and spend about 5 or so minutes scanning my abdomin. She asked if my periods were regular and I said yes. Then she told me to go and empty my bladder completely so she could do an internal scan. When I was changing in the room I looked over at the screen and it showed my uterus was enlarged but I couldn't see any baby. Maybe I didn't know what I was looking at. So she cme back and did the internal and then when she was done said I could get dressed and wait with my husband. We waited for 10 min and then she came and said the results were sent off to my doctor and he would call me this afternoon. I received a message from his nurse saying he wants to see me first thing Tuesday morning. Have to wait the weekend cause its the Canada day long weekend. I had a bad feeing before I went in, and everyone said it was normal. I am sure something is wrong. I got my oh to grab a test and its still positive, but that could mean nothing if its a belighted ovum. I should be 8w5d today lmp was April 27 2013. I have no pain and no bleeding. At times it's seems like my symptoms have gone away but then they come back.

Anyone have any advice or personal stories they could offer me.

Hi Hun,

I didn't want to read and run.

I have never been in this situation so can't share any experiences with you but I just wanted to say that I'm keeping everything crossed for you and hope that everything is a ok and it turns out ok

Try and stay positive at this stage you don't know whether anything is wrong at all, it could be something minor or nothing at all, it must be really hard for you with so little information given.

Hugs to you :hugs:

Xx

Hi

I don't have any helpful info either. I think the way the hospital dealt with you is disgusting tbh.

It could quite literally be absolutely anything just remember in first tri we are almost waiting for something bad to happen. Fingers crossed all is ok! I'd be at the surgery tomorrow if I were you demanding to see somebody! You don't need that stress hanging over you for days!

Hope you n your little bean turn out just fine xx

I have been for a scan where everything had gone wrong at 12 weeks, but in the uk they tell you straightaway

It seems a very funny process to make you wait over the weekend wether good news or bad but perhaps thats normal process for early scans before 12 weeks over there.

Wishing everything to be fine for you xx

I've had a scan where it was a silent miscarriage but the sonographer told me straight away. I can't believe theyre making you wait over the weekend thats so cruel :(

Even being told over the phone would be better than not knowing. Jj mum might be right where the make you wait either way xxxx

Oh that is so horrible leaving it so long to give you the results.

I found out I was pregnant in March, saw doctor quite early- (about 5 or 6 weeks) on as I was getting abdominal pain on one side. I went for scan for suspected ectopic, but they found sac where it should be. They couldn't see anything in the sac though, so I went back the following week. The sac had over doubled in size, but they still couldn't see anything inside. So it was either a blighted ovum, or I wasn't as far along as I thought. This went on till just before 11 weeks when They finally gave diagnosis of blighted ovum, and I had a medically managed miscarriage 21 May.

Have they taken blood to check your hcg levels?

Also if by chance you have a tilted uterus, it can make it hard for sonographer to see baby so early on.

Fingers crossed for you x

Is this the norm in your area?

From my understanding what happened today is not normal. They do make your oh wait till the measurements are done but then call them in so you can both see. And for waiting after the exam you only do this if they are printing your pictures.

I don't believe that my uterus is tilted as there has never been any mention of it. I have not had any blood work yet. That will probably be ordered on Tuesday. Talked to a few people who are constantly telling me not to worry but I know something's up. But a few did say so encouraging things, like it could just be the position of the baby or the placenta could be in the way. I am trying to relax but it's hard. Booked my Saturday and Monday shift off work just can't deal with the outside world.

It's hard isn't it. But like people have said, you never know till you get those results.

I only knew I had a tilted uterus as I had a specialist check me when i had the suspected ectopic, and kinda mentioned it in passing.

Take care x

I havent got any advice hun, but i have my fx for you that its all ok.

Michelle. x

That's an awful way to be treated. I hope everything is okay for you

That's awful to be treated that way. Really hope you get some good news xx xx

I just can't believe they told you nothing! If it was me I think I would of sat there until they told me what was going on! Really hope everything is ok for you xx

They can't legally say what's going on during an exam in Canada. If I were at the hospital the tech could of got a doctor but since it was just a diagnostic imaging clinic there is no one there to relase any information. I am anticipating bad news on Tuesday.

Hi lovely

Can't believe they didn't tell you there and then and you've got to wait... what a horrible way of doing things. Really hope everything is ok and that you'll be given some reassurance next week.
Keeping everything crossed for you xxx

I am so sorry your going through this. I really hope you don't get bad news on Tuesday. Look after yourself honey xxxx
