Hi ladies,

Does anyone suffer with vaginal pain? I've never had it before but the last 3 days I'm in pain all the time. It feels like when you put a tampon in and it's not in right. A kind of pressure and soreness on the left hand side inside me. On day 20 of my cycle I passed a weird red blob when I went for a pee. I've never had the pain before and wondered if anyone else has?

I've got my gynecology appointment at the hospital tomorrow so I will hopefully get some answers then but I'm worrying so seeing if any of you have suggestions. (I know you're not doctors but this forum is always helpful.)

For those that don't know me, I've got an ongoing issue with spotting in the luteal phase which was always dismissed by locum GP's and the private fertility specialists as 'normal' for my age which is BS. My GP finally took me seriously and referred me which is good. Tomorrow it's a 'one stop shop' at the gynaecology unit where I see the NHS consultant and they do a load of tests - 3 of which I've previously paid for as part of my failed IVF. My OH is coming with me as I'm scared they dismiss me again when I know there is a problem that needs addressed. I've always thought it was low progesterone ....but the pain is new and I've no idea what would cause it. I'm up to my eyeballs in Ibuprofen and its still sore.

We've not TTC this month because I knew they wouldn't do the tests if they thought there was a chance I was pregnant so it's nothing to do with implantation or sex. I never have pain with sex, thankfully.

Didn’t want to read and run.

Hope you get some answers tomorrow xx

So I had my gynecology appointment this afternoon and they were lovely. However it felt like a waste of time because the doctor was unable to advise on fertility because her clinic was for general gynecology.

My scan was all clear, she could tell I'd ovulated and found a 'tiny' half centimetre fibroid that is doing no harm. She said my womb and ovaries looked healthy.

The cause of the spotting is that in women over 40 the womb lining can be too thick (either too much estrogen or too little progesterone) and that's why the spotting happens in the luteal phase. If I wasn't trying to get pregnant the solution is the mini pill. But because I am trying TTC she didn't have the answers and said I'd need to speak to a fertility expert.

I don't think that I'll be able to see a fertility person on the NHS, (we too old to qualify for IVF and I wouldn't have it again anyway. I just want advice about balancing out the hormones) so it looks like my credit card is going to be red hot again trying to pay for someone who has an answer. Surely if they sort this problem with the mini-pill for women who don't want kids they can do something for hormones for those that do want a baby?

It really is a lottery. One of my friends eats a high sugar, junk diet and never does any exercise and had her 2nd baby at 42. Another is underweight, does way too much exercise and had her 1st and 2nd babies at 42 and 44. Its just your luck.

Anyway. Thanks for the support girls. You are the best.

We’re they able to give you any reason for the pain you’ve been having?

Hey Millie,

Thanks for asking. No. She said it 'could be a number of things' none of which were to do with my actual vagina but didn't elaborate and I think I was taking everything in so didn't ask. She wasn't worried about it so hopefully it disappears as quickly as it came. Not as painful today, just a dull ache.

I'm now googling like a crazy woman to find out if it is a bad thing to have a too thick endometrium. All the YouTube videos seem to be about making it thicker when its too thin. And I'm wondering if its got anything to do with my chemical pregnancies as I never had a D&C, just let it all go naturally.

Its so frustrating. xx

Hopefully it was nothing then and it’s something that goes away and doesn’t return.

It really is all so frustrating xx
