Hiya,

Just wanting to pick people's brains about travelling.

I'm possibly getting a last minute deal abroad to Cyprus. I've got a sling for Sprog, but I'm worried about him overheating if I use it all the time, so I'm thinking about taking his pram. The only problem is that it's a Bugaboo Cameleon, and a) it's big and b) I'm terrified about it getting lost/damaged!

The only options I can think of are either to buy a travel bag for it, which is £90 (eek!) or a small, cheap pushchair. I'm going to be travelling alone, too, so I need to be able to manage Sprog, handluggage, pram, etc alone...

Sprog's just over 3 months, so is still in the carrycot of the Bugaboo. If I were to get a cheap pushchair, can anyone give me a recommendation? I've no idea what's suitable for his age (nearly 15 weeks)

Also, any tips foir while I'm over there? It's going to be HOT, and while I'm not going to be out in the sun with him (I'm not a beachperson or a sunfreak myself, and I'm visiting relatives, so will mainly be in their house) but I'm neurotic about him overheating. Will he be okay in just vests, or would he be better in loose t-shirts? And where can I find loose, thin trousers now that the summer stuff's gone off the shelves!? He's breastfed, so I think I'm just going to be feeding him LOADS to keep him hydrated.

Maybe a last minute deal isn't a good thing, I can feel a mass panic coming on! :rotfl:

hiya,

I was the same when i went on hols with my daughter when she was a few month old, i was worried about her overheating, in the night i put a vest on her as the air con was on a little so wasnt to hot in the room but one night when i left the air con i just had her in a nappy. i normally go on what i wear myself, i normal sleep ontop of the blankets and just in underwear so a vest for the baby should be fine, or as you said a light tshirt, tesco are having abit of a summer sale, well there are where i live lol.

I took a small buggy the century i think its called from argos, mine did take abit of a battering, guess its when its on and off the belt thing in the airport. If you buy another buggy, get one that only take one hand to put up and down, as i ve had another buggy and it take 2 hands so no good if youve got your baby in your hands.

If a good idea to take your sling, especially for the airport although most airports will let you take the pushchair right to the plane, thats what i did.

Try not to worry i know thats easier said than done, just go with what you think.

Hope this has helped alittle.

I would buy just a cheapy buggy/stroller for travelling, thats what I did when I travelled to the states alone with Arianna. Make sure it is easy to put up and down - especially with one hand for when you are at security checks as you have to fold the buggy for it to go through the scanner.

For travelling you can take the buggy straight to the door of the plane and if it is a big enough plane they will take it and put it in the cabin near the front so it will be sitting ready for you as soon as you get off in Cyprus. This is only if the plane is big enough, so it might be better to take the sling just incase for the other side.

With regards to the heat... I would just put LO in vests at night, unless the air cond is high, then put him in a thin sleepsuit. For through day just some little shorts and T-shirts. And a wee cap/hat for his head.

Hope you have fun away!

Hunny, if you are going to be staying with relatives, the best thing to do is ask them to ask around to see if anyone can lend you a puschair for your stay. That is what i did when travelling with Ani when she was younger. A lot of people keep prams for the next one and a lot of people are happy to lend one! :D

As far as the sling, it will be great for travelling - you may find it too hot on some days, I do; but for the actual flying days it is great.

Go, dont worry and have a good time. As far as dehydration is concerned, dont worry, please. Remember that those of us that live in the heat and have breastfed, have not had probs with dehydration, just keep feeding on demand... :cheer:
