Hello everyone! This is my first post here.
I am 42 years old and expecting my third child next January. I also have two boys, 14 and 9. This is my fourth pregnancy, since I had a missed mc on 2003.
My OB asked me to take Folbic since my first visit and to keep taking it until the end of my pregnancy. These tablets contain 2,500 mcg of folic acid + B-6 / B-12 vitamins). He explained that it is recommended that pregnant women over 35 and/or who've had a history of miscarriage take larger amounts of folic acid. But in this week's appointment he also prescribed prenatal vitamins that contain 1000mcg (125% of DV). The package specifically states "folic acid intake should not exceed 125% of DV".
Any advice on this? Are there any adverse effects of taking too much folic acid?
Thank you so much!
