The doctor has told me that Katie has Toddler Diarrhoea and I was wondering if anyone else's baby has this??? She has been like this for quite sometime now and sorry to go in to details but poops up to 5 times or more a day and it's very messy.

The health visitor recommended Bio Yoghurts but they all seem to be low fat and you are not supposed to give babies low fat yoghurts (what I have always been told).

Does anyone have any tips on how I could make it a little better??

I hadn't heard of this but I looked and found this advice:

Treatment

1. Increase fat in the diet
2. Decrease fluid in the diet
3. Avoid fructose and sorbitol- (decrease fruit juices)
4. Increase dietary fiber

You probably have been told that already though. If the bio yoghurts help and you can only find them in low-fat I'd get them anyway if they might help. What about other things with that bacteria stuff in....I've seen baby yoghurts with it in I'm sure, and milk which you could add to food.

I will have a look next time I am in the supermarket for some other products with the bacteria stuff in didn't realise it was in milk as well worth a try.

I have stopped giving her fruit juices etc, it's just a nightmare as it somedays I have to bath her twice a day as it can end up under her armpits!!!! my nephew suffered with the same thing but he didn't start with it until he was about 1-2 years old.

She is still putting weight on and thriving it's just really unpleasant (for me) and her during nappy changes plus when it's really bad the nappy rash starts.

Hi Emma

My friend's baby from my local baby group had this a couple of weeks ago, she's 11 months old. They all came round to my house and the poor wee girl had a dirty nappy - oh my goodness it was awful. She took her up to my bathroom to clear her up. Her Dr had told her to not give her any formula as it was feeding the diarrhoa but to give her plain food and flat 7up (apparently 7up doesn't have artificial sweetners in). Hers cleared up within 10 days. Like your little one this wee girl didn't seem to be bothered by it at all but she was waking up once in the night (her mum thought probably from hunger) so she was getting a weetabix mixed with boiled water and taking that.

Hope your little one gets better soon, I hadn't heard of this until my friend came round and then some of the other girls were saying about their friend's babies having it in the past.

I buy Yeo Valley Organic Bio Live Yoghurt and its full fat.

Lucy
