I know I'll be leaving it as long as possible before I try. My sister did it very early with my nephew and he's had them up at 5am every morning ever since......
We're trying with Sam tomorrow night (he'll be exactly 20 months and I'm weird with dates so it has to be on a 5th of something ) so I'll let you know how it goes We were talking about it last night and he grabbed my hand, dragged me upstairs and got in his bed, lay down and said 'night night' then asked for a book
This was just after dinner though, so I had to get him up again. I'm guessing it won't go that well when I need him to stay there. I just thought if I try now and he won't sleep in it we could try again in a month - we'll definitely need his cot by Christmas x
Ive always wondered when you do the change... With Rosie i brought her one of the cot bed's, and always wondered how you know it's the right time if there ever is a right time to move her into the bed section of it?
Hmm I think Jack was a bit older than Caitlin, but I just made a big fuss of it, let him choose bedding etc...
Is she moving from cotbed bed to single bed?
Presuming you need the cotbed for Megan?
One tip is to but the old mattres at the side of the new bed if you are not using guards( i never did) it's a hell of a drop
I'm going to wait till bumpy grows out of the crib. It's big but as soon as they start to pull themselves up they need shifting apparently. So based on that I reckon it'll be about the same as your two!! I really wanted to wait till 2 and a half ish but like you bed/cot wise I'll have to do it when it suits......I cant believe you've got me thinking about this already....give me that lolly back
We moved Kian into a bed just before his 1st birthday and it went really well. He wasn't a good sleeper in a cot but as soon as we moved him he slept much better. We put a stair gate on his bedroom door so he couldn't wander around the house in the night!! and i always made sure his bedroom was safe just in case he got out of bed. Kian is nearly 5 now and he is a fab sleeper, he doesn't get out of bed or come into us unless he's poorly or needs the toilet.
Niamh however is another story!! She is nearly 1 and isn't ready to go into a bed yet as she's only just moved out of our room. I hope she'll be in a bed before she's 1 1/2 though.
Thank Bex - it's good to know that it can go well when they're younger
We've got a stairgate for the door and I need to check for things he can destroy before I leave him in there tomorrow night but fingers crossed it'll go ok
What do you do about things that are plugged in? I've got a night light in there (not one of those things that sits in the socket but an actual little lamp with a switch on the cable) and I need to put his monitor in there because if we're in the lounge with the door shut (bird is loose ) and tv on I can't hear him unless he screams. Am I worrying too much that he might unplug things, stick fingers in the sockets and then wrap wires around his neck?!
Is it better not to have them and leave the door open and hall light on? Or main light for the first night?
Meant to be doing this tonight and I've just realised how unprepared I am
That might be a good idea. I'll leave a big light on tonight and plug the monitor in outside his door (actually I could just leave it there anyway). Thanks... I have a feeling I might be quite tired tomorrow
Sam still can't get out of his - it's a huge cotbed (the bed he's going into is a new one and has been there for months) and he's in a sleeping bag to stop him from climbing!
