And we are suicidal.

I can't cope with this, there is nothing we can do to stop her crying at all.

Does anyone else get hours and hours of screaming? Is this a normal part of looking after a newborn?

The Gaviscon obviously does not work.

I could sense tonight being bad as she slept peacefully all day.

The only thing that helps my lo when he gets inconsolable is skin to skin in dark room, sometimes I can't calm him as I think he just smells the milk and keeps going for that. DH has to have him on his chest.

I've only had the crying three times and it only lasted about an hour. I feel for you Hun I can't imagine what you are all going through x.

Sorry to hear Tilly is going through it :( when Stanley was newborn I used to give him skin to skin like the others hAve said it really is the best for calming them other thAn that I'm a bit lost Hun. Hope you're ok. X

Ask your doc to prescribe a stronger medication.

Hope you manage to get some sleep.
X

Oh sweetie I'm sorry that's horrible. It's really hard to hear them cry.

Macy had a couple of nights like that. And we now know its due to colic.

But when she is having a bad moment we put on white noise, cuddle her tight and then sit in the rocking chair or move about.

Hope it's going ok, and she has settled for you.

Colic is worse at night, and another symptom is inconsolable crying. That's how it started with Henry.

Start her on infacol, it needs to be given Religiously before every feed up until 12 weeks. It takes a few days to kick in but it does work. Henry only has his crying fits once a day in the early evening. It not even every day anymore now either

Hope u managed to calm her and get some sleep xxxx

We used to take Charlie out of the room and walk him round the house showing him things like out the window and.pictures on the wall, we still do.it now, it distracts him and he forgets he was crying. Or, and I know its not ideal this time in the morning you could hath her if she likes them? Sorry to hear you're having a bad night :( x

Hope the night has got better for you and Tilly... *big hugs*

Oh vicky just wanted to send you big hugs darling

I do hope that you managed to get her back off to sleep... I'm hoping it's a good sign that you're not online! Xxxx

I lost it a bit last night :(

We give infacol/Gaviscon with every feed already so that's not going to fix it :(

The only feed time she plays up after is the last one we do before bed time. She never does it in the day time. Ever.

I don't get why it is only then she has all the drama???

I'm properly knackered today

My health visitor was saying they kick off at that time because their body runs out of the enzime that digests millk sugars so because they cant digest it they get tummy ach (they make more of these enzimes at night) she suggesyed giving a teaspoon of grapefruit juice with w teaspoons of cooled boiled water when they start the crying grapefruit has something in it that can help breakdown the milk sigars for them we tryed it with alex and it worked. Aparently it works with 90% of babies the other 10% just bring it back up. It might be worth a try hun. Hope things start getting better for you xxx

Thats meant to say 2 teaspoons of water. We give it her in the bottle because we know she will take a bottle and breast but if your breast and havnt given a bottle at all then just give it off a teaspoon or from a siringe xx

Gaviscon is one of the weaker medications they prescribe for reflux , give your doctor a call and tell him you don't think it's working. He may tell you to either up the dose or prescribe stronger stuff like what Harlow is on.

Littlemiss had the same problem and ended up with different and stronger medicines.

Hope your ok chick. It's upsetting isn't it :( x

Oh I feel for you, really do. For nearly 2 solid months we had screaming from 8pm til 1am, it's enough to drive you insane isn't it. Resting his belly in our shoulders helped a little cos I think the pressure helps. If its any consolation i promise it does get better, just feels like an uphill struggle at the time. Also a sling worked well for us. It does sound like colic :( but no meds worked for my l/o I just had to sit it out :looped: x

oh hun I know just how you feel I have AJ scream from 3pm for at least 3-4 hours solid. Nothing I do can console him. I spoke to a lady yesterday and she said the colief drops are better than infacol. I may give it a try but they are not cheap!!!

I can def recommend white noise! If you have an iPod or iPhone then download some and it just sounds wrong to us grown ups but babies love it! She can be screaming and we put on her favourite really loud ( sound of waves crashing) and its like someone has hit her off switch. Honestly it's amazing!!! Xx

It's bloody awful.

I don't want the doctor to fob me off and I reckon he will tbh.

Gawd, it's a good job my OH is off today hopefully we can catch up on some zzzs

The doctor fobbed me off when I begged for colief drops! Told me they are not allowed to prescribe them.

I bought them myself (very expensive) and I never seen any difference!

I tried everything to cure her crying! She cried for up to 20 hours a day! Mostly inconsolable! I was at my wits end and in the end changed her to soya milk. I have never looked back! She is now the quietest most content baby!

Not saying your LO needs to be changed to soya, but it may be worth just asking the doctor to test for it so you can rule lactose intolerance out. They can do it no problem using the stools x

Oh and 100% agree with Samsgirl! That app of white noise is amazing! It even sends me to sleep let alone Harlow!!!! Best app ever!!' x
