i just wanted to know, does the risk of miscarriage decrease in trimester 2?
i was speaking to a friend today who said miscarriage can occur upto 6months!!!???
thnks

Ive heard that the chances of a miscarriage once youre out the 1st trimester is massively less. I suppose its always possible though but much more unlikely. I read that most miscarriages happen because theres something wrong with the little one and it isnt viable. :( So if that's the case then it wouldve happened by now if you get my logic? Im no expert, this is just what Ive read/heard. xxx

I'll have a look for some statistics but I believe once the heartbeat has been seem the risk is around 5% falling to under 1% after 12 weeks. Not a very nice thing for your friend to say to you :(

thats what I thought too. Some people do say some awful things without realising. On the day we went to tell them I was pregnant, my MIL grabbed our arms on the way out the door and said "you do know about miscarriages dont you? Dont get excited!" Niccccccccccccceeeeeeeeeee!:wall2:

That is awful!!

Thankfully no one really had any charming commets for me but I didn't tell many people until I was 15 weeks ish

people can b so thoughtless sometimes, xxxx
i think the risk does drop after the 12 week mark, try not to worry xxxxx

hmmm, i suppose its coz ive have 3 previous miscarriages, but they were all within the first 6 weeks. its difficult when u really want something, people who dont want children or arent trying dont really understand, but its disheartening when someone you think is a friend comes out with that, :-(.

Thats a really awful thing to hear when you are pregnant - as Tonks said the chance of mc after 12 weeks is significantly reduced

I hear 1% chance of miscarrying after the first trimester :)

wow, thats good to hear, thanks guys it realli helps.
xxx
