I just wanted to let those know who think they may never concieve after using the depo that there is hope. I was on the depo for 10 years and through most of that time I thought I never wanted children and so it was never a consideration that I may have difficulties concieving later.

I go married two years ago and we wanted to start trying for a family, it is taken me two years to conceive. After many doctors appointments, internal exams and blood test they couldn't find anything unusual. This did not ease my mind but mr doctor was so understanding. A task that has been very trying, watching all my freinds have babies and listening to people presume you do not want children.

My periods came back after one year and it took me a further 9 months to fall pregnant.

Becasue of the challenges we incured to fall pregnant I am just taking each day as it comes and will probably not enjoy this pregnancy at all. Once I have my baby in my arms I will be the happiest mum in the world.

I just want to let those concerned know, never give up hope.

I was on the depo injection about 4 yrs ago. I was horrendous, i was depressed all the time, lost my sex drive and gained about 3st in weight. I came off it but it still took a further 5/6 mths for my periods to come back even though I'd only had about 5 injections of the stuff. IMO it really is a horrible form of contracaption. We weren't TTC when I stopped it so I can't comment on that because I went onto the pill afterwards so we didn't have the added stress of that like you did. Although I didn't start the pill till my periods came back and we didn't get caught si it really is a long term contraception isn't it?

my friend got pg about 5 months after coming off depo. i also know somebody who has 2 daughters who both fell pg on depo

I was on it for about 3 years (came off a few years ago because my sex drive died) then read somewhere that it can effect bone density if on it for more than 2 years  so i will be strearing clear in the future

I was on it for 4 years and came off it because I lost my sex drive and gained loads of weight. It took a couple of years for me to get back to normal, I'm so glad I didn't stay on it until we decided to TTC Emma, we would probably still be waiting for her. It is evil and I would never go back on it!!!!

If I had been warned prior to having it what a mess it would make of me I would never have had it.
