***** The big OBEM chat thread Jan 2013 ****

Yeah embarassing bodies is terrible. It has a good aim but people usually only watch it to be like "ewww" and it they get specialist private health and surgery etc. so I can see why some might go on but some is just thrush or something do would just go to normal docs lol.

forceps scare the hell out of me!!
I pray to god i don't have to have them. I hate what they do to the babies poor little faces! :( xx

My little lady was a forceps delivery- they used them to turn her before pulling her out, and she was perfect, with a small bruise on one cheek. I have never watched OBEM, but happened to catch this birth while channel surfing- my God it's brutal! I was prepped for a c-section, so was in theatre with a spinal block- thankfully I couldn't see anything because of the drapes, or I think I would have been terrified!

I can't watch embarrassing bodies at the moment....my gag reflex is WAY too strong at the moment to watch some of the things on there!

Lol I can't watch embarrassing bodies at all ever!

Its reported that they get £1000 to appear on it. No money in the world would get me on there!!

Im a OBEM virgin watched for first time this week as thought right im ready to see what i may go through in labour (im first time mum) well wont be watching again scared the s*** out of me now im really bricking it about labour :shock:

Omg! I would want atleast 3k to get my foof out let alone all the other things that go on during labour lol.

Yep it's £1k and apparently there isn't a film crew, just a load of built in camera's that film from various angles.

I'd need about £50k to consider being filmed

xxxxxxx

God just think what you could buy baby gear wise tho for £1000..... oooh
they are normall very good at hiding your bits with shady bits..

Yeah I still wouldn't do that for 1k. Knowing my luck I would poo everywhere or keep farting or something lol.

To be fair I've yet to see one where anyone poos themselves. I would've thought it was more common?!

At the risk of sounding rude about people on OBEM, I do get the impression that a lot of them are the sort of people that £1000 would be a hell of a lot of money to.

I have seen one once where the girl pooed but not when pushing, she was just contracting in bed and another where she farted in the midwifes face lol. That would so be me! Haha. I am planning to have a water birth so hopefully I don't poo or anything :/.
Yeah you are right, there are a few younguns on there that would definitely benefit from 1000. I think it might be a mixture of people that want to be on tv, could do with the money or wanna help fur educational purposes. Some of their houses when they speak to them before are really nice!! Lol

1k? Sorry but they'd need to pay way more than that to see my good girl on tv never mind pushing a child from it!

I could have sworn I pood - I was shouting at the mw I've pood I can smell it please clean it. But OH and Mw swore I hadn't  LOL. I think it was all in my head!

xxxxx

Just to reiterate ladies that there is a neonatal death on tonight's episode.

I plan to watch, I think the parents allowing it to be shown means they want to raise awareness so we can help by watching.

That said I just now watched last weeks episode and my God I blubbed my eyes out...James was napping in my arms and all I kept telling how much I love him.

On a slightly side note is it just me or do a lot of babies come out with the cords round their necks??? Nothing untoward has ever happened, the MW's just quickly untangle cord but it seems like every week there is at least one with the cord?? In the last episode it was the c-section AND the one with the quiet lady - she was bloody amazing btw!

I think the parents are so brave allowing this to be shown and are doing it to raise awareness of the condition that there LO suffered .
