hey ladies!
jack is teething i think, his cheeks are red and he dribbles loads, he is really whiney and has to be chomping on something!
i have a few questions,
1. what can i give him? ive been giving ashton powders and bongela. can i give calpol?

2. how long did it take your LOs first tooth to come through?

3. how long does this painful period last? he is one grumpy lil boy! its really upsetting! :(

4. what were your LOs symptoms?

sorry for all the questions thank you for any replies xxx

We give ashtons and parsons and she wears an amber teething necklace. If she were really distressed and in pain we'd give paracetemol (calpol) but if she's just grumpy then distraction works far better - playing, singing, going for walks, staring at the cat...
She drooled from around 3 months I think. Sometimes she would have red cheeks that were sooo hot! And she loves to chew. Her first tooth arrived around 7 months. As to how long the painful period lasts, this is just for tooth 1. We have 2 teeth but are going through it all again for the next 2. I think they get 20 baby teeth over about 2 years :(

Hey there...I find the first tooth is always the worst...

I use Amber teething necklace, and chamomilla homeopathic teething granuals...fab

Never used calpol.....and interestingly neither does my G.P a mum of three, not even when her lo has a temperature,
she says its better for them not to have it and that too may mums use it as a shut up and be quiet quick fix.

But i completely understand that its distressing seeing your wee one in pain...

But as the saying goes...what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Oh and my wee madam has six teeth already with another on the way !! :cheer:

I used calpol, homeopathic, teething beads and a big carrot chilled in the fridge. The kids would like to knaw on the carrot.

I think the homeopathic did work well during the day as he would seem more relaxed but at night when Joe was tired and the cheeks were crimson a wee spoonful of calpol was given.

I didnt get the beads till he was a bit older and he kept them on and though I dont know for sure they worked I just have a feeling they did relieve the niggly pain.

i like the carrot idea!!
where can i get the teething beads from?? xxx

The teething beads can be bought from ebay. I bought 2 kinds as I was getting them as presents and the second set I got were really good as they had magnetic fastenings which meant if Joe got a hold of them he would pull them off rather than break them. He was just under two though so with a younger child you might not have that problem :D
