My daughter is 21 months old and I'm convinced she is getting her back molars... has had 16 teeth for a few months now but this past fortnight she's been fussy with food and putting her finger into the back of her mouth lots. Also has a bit of a runny nose. Is this too early to get the back molars as some people say they don't come through till they're 2? Also any advice? I have a feeling they're going to be really painful :-(

My LO has her back molars already (well I'm presuming so - they're really huge and at the back of her mouth) and she's only 17 months. We just let her chew on things! She still does lots of chewing because bizarrely a couple of the ones further forward have yet to fully come through! It did cause her problems sleeping and eating. We used Calpol for the pain. Not really much you can do except wait it out.
