Taking your baby on holiday!

Firstly I'd just like to say a massive sarcastic thank you to you all for starting a thread about going abroad while I'm going to feckin clacton on sea!!!
Secondly, genuine thanks as I have no idea what to take for a week in england so this will help me too... Even though I don't get to go on a plane :(

Anyone know what I do with him on the train as the customer service bloke said I have to fold the pushchair up and store it and he can't have his own seat so he's got to sit on my lap. Will he be safe?!

And... Sterilising, obviously I ent lugging his massive electric one on the train, was gonna buy a travel one, are they worth it or is there another way to sterilise without having to lug stuff around?

God I don't even know how much clothing to take LOL now I feel like a bad mummy!

I think he will be fine on the train hun. Re: sterilising, how much are travel ones???

lol its so overwhelming isnt it!! Could you get some sachets of milton for when youre there? is it self catering? Cos you just need a big container/washing up bowl to put them in which I guess theyd have in self catering, disolve a sachet of milton and leave them to soak in it for a couple of hours (?) Thats what I had to do when we were in hospital so I know its safe.

I havent been abroad for 3 years so Im just going to be smug about it anyway :smug: but Im sure clacton on sea will be lush too, esp if the weather is as good as today :yay:

They're about £25. Though I've just seen a TT one for £10 in Argos but can only do one at a time but you get a free bottle with it :)

I wouldn't pay £25, but a tenner.......BUY IT!!!!!!!

Yeah I think i might get one but I might do what tiny suggested with the Milton as well, cos I can't imagine sterilising bottles one by one for the whole week lol

At least that's two worries of my mind now!

i have ot a microwave one 10 pound in asda baby event tt one or you can put bottles in a big pan and keep water simmering for 5 mins that sterilises them x

My moms got a microwave one we could've took but there's no microwave where were staying lol
It's good that there's other ways though. Means I don't have to lug extra stuff with me!

I've just found out with our package holiday, Emily has got a 10 kilo luggage allowance! Yay!!!!!!!

Wow! I'll probably end up taking that much for Aiden lol
Where are you going Hun?

Rhodes! Really can't wait now! We've not been away since going to Mexico in 2009, so im really looking forward to just relaxing!!

When do you go away? X

Have you been before? I love Greece, I went to Zante about 7years ago that's the only time I've ever been abroad!
We go 9th may, can't wait. Would much rather be going on a proper holiday though but this will still be fab, we really need it!

Never been to Greece! It's always somewhere I've fancied though!

You will have a fab time, doesn't matter where you go. It's just nice to get away. X

I'm going away with my mum and the kids in May and I'm terrrrrrified of flying. I'm literally crapping myself already! I feel like a terrible mother for taking them on a plane lol!

Oh no! You'll be fine, what is it that your scared of? Where are you going?

I love flying!!!!! I've not done a short haul flight for a while (not meaning that to be cocky) so this one to Greece will be really nice :)

I'm just scared something terrible will happen.... they're well excited, but I'll be stuck to my chair preying they don't move incase the plane tips lol

The totseats are fantastic, my sister bought one for us on her flight back from Mexico last year!!! Do not use them on the coach though, not a good idea!! If they are not wearing a seat belt the safest way to travel is backwards on your lap if possible, so on a train facing backwards for example as it gives them more protection around their neck and back.
For sterilising, why don't you try milton tablets? I think you shove them in cold water with all the stuff to be sterlised and leave them for a while, just need a pot or something rather than the microwave travel jobs.
I'd have a look at the sun protection swimming suits. We had one for Ross and it was nice peace of mind knowing he had extra sun protection in case we'd missed a bit with the lotion. And make sure your parasol has a sun protection factor in it or the sun rays do get through. Oh and sunglasses, maybe others are different but Ross wouldn't even open his eyes in the shade when outside!

We're off on Ross's third caravan holiday in a couple of weeks and planning a camping trip to France in August. :yay:

Oh megs, thanks!!!!! I have got Emily an all in one swim suit thing but should probably get another! She can wear her cute cozzies in the shade! :)

How much food do you think I should take? She can have stuff in the restaurant (safe things like chips!!) with us but I don't want to have to rely on that?

v exciting thread, think I need to go and write lists though!! we're goign to tuscany for a wedding in less than 2 weeks! Have a 20kg allowance for 3 of us!!! travel wash all the way I think!

think we'll take milton and we have one of those fabric high chair things as an xmas pressie....now just need to locate the damn thing!

What about the Heinz dinners? They are dried packets that you just add water to?

Tesco and Boots both do them. But it really depends on what kind of solids your babies are eating. I'd take enough food for back up, trying to keep it light, like the wee packets of snacks and dried foods and supplement with what you are having.

Im going away in june But staying in this country, i fare i'll end up taking half the house with me lol! good thread i'll be keeping my eyes open for ideas! x
