Sure start maternity grant

Hi,

I sent off my application for the grant on friday. I was just wondering from other people who got this, how long it takes for them to get back to you?

i sent off for it took about a week for them to get back to me cos i had done something wrong on it but then they sent me a letter saying i wasn't eligiable for it but i rang them up and asked why and i was eligiable for it, but then i had to ring them a week later to find out what was happening and the women i spoke to the said it had not been done, so if they send you a letter saying that your not eligiable for i would ring them up and ask why.

sent mine off about a week ago will let you know when it comes back my midwife says they are terrible take a long time and send it back for silly reasons and very often has to be filled out again xxxx

Tell me about they sent it back cos the midwife hadn't ticked one of the boxes that had nothing to do with me anyway.

We handed in our grant form and it took about two weeks due to the fact that our job centre is run by meandafoles ( i think thats how its spelt lol!! ) i'll tell you now though the money doesn't go very far. £500 seems like a lot of money but all we got was our pram, bathset, toiletries and bedding. I am the sort of person that will shop for the nicest but cheapest products but my OH buys stuff from the first shop he walks in. (bless him he hates shopping). I will say tho that if you do get time the best place to go is Kiddicare on the outskirts of peterborough the pram and buggie selection is ideal, they have every style and colour you desire. www.kiddicare.co.uk

I sent mine off on the Monday and the money was in the bank the following Monday. Very quick!

Can i ask you guys what a maternity grant is, what makes you eligible etc??

you have to be on benefits to be eligable for a sure start maternity grant.
