This isn't that big a deal but just something that has been a bit irritating this week.

We have 2 Christmas meals at work and I have been picking my choices from the menu. First menu starters:
Parma ham salad - can't eat Parma ham
Brie baked wedges - can't eat Brie
Pate -can't eat pate

If I wasn't pregnant I would happily have had all those choices!

Second menu starters:
Pate
Parma ham salad
Salmon (don't eat fish)
Spicy tomato soup -don't like spicy food!

So in short, there is NO starter that i can safely have or enjoy!

How frustrating! Been looking forward to the food since I can't have a drink!!

Anyone else had this prob?

Oh that's a shame :( Could you call the restaurant and ask them if they can do a starter off the normal menu for you? I'm sure vegans have the same problem so they should be able to accomodate everyone! xx

I'd say the same as Mrs Blue give em a rin and explain, most places will do something.

Thankfully our xmas meal I am organising :) so I get to make the choices lol, and because I am pregnant noone argues it's brilliant :)

Well I can't tell anyone at work yet, that's the prob! And the organiser wants to know my choices! I'm hoping by 9th December I should have had my scan so might be able to make last min choices! xx

why cant you have parma ham hun ?? am i missing something?

Bit of a bummer though when your trying to keep things a little quiet and nothing nice to pick

It's because they're cured and not cooked, they can potentially carry salmonella and listeria.
I'm not going to my work's do because i'm away but having seen the menu i'll have the same trouble. It looks lovely but all out of bounds for me!

Give the organiser ur options then phone the restaurant a week later or somethin and say u r pregnant can the offer an alternative starter for u. Tell them no one at work knows yet so not to say anything but then ur safe xx

I didn't know about the parma ham and have eaten it several times!! Mad when I have been so good about the cheese and pate situation!! lol

ohhhh i didnt know that about parma ham and to be honest i wouldnt have even thought about it had i not read it here ....see you learn something new with every pregnancy
