I usually sleep on my side, but recently whenever I wake up I find I'm on my back.

I read in my preg book that its not recommended to sleep on you back after 4 months, but what can I do...I am asleep!

I assume that once it becomes an issue then I'll just stop doing it because it'll be uncomfortable?

Also on a different not, probably TMI but hey ho!

I keeping passing air bubbles from my vagina! I guess its because of the cervix being firmly shut and I think it gets sucked up there when I do my pelvic floor exercises!

Any body else getting this?

I seem to wake up on my back or my right side all the time, i dont think there is much we can do about it other than tie ourselves to something to make sure we cant role over. Although when i do role over on to my left side i have my oh breathing in my face and it irritates me.

I darent do my pelvic floor excersizes, i am scared i am doing them wrong and might be doing something with my cervix muscles or something instead :?

Ummm well I do about 200 PVE a day - including my bum and my pee hole lol. We do them in our maternity yoga class - back, front, side to side (vagina) and then up and down (also vagina). The back one and the side to side one is about getting perineum flexible. So far I've not noticed any air bubbles - and nothing actually opens up when I do the exercises as it is a clenching motion. Also, atm for all of us hopefully, the cervix is way up inside of us, and only becomes one with the vagina during labour. So I'm not convinced it's physically possible to get at the cervix during these exercises - but I'm happy to be proved wrong lol. To find the correct set of muscles to exercise (which will be slightly different to what I've described doing in my yoga class) you're supposed to have a pee and then stop mid flow. When you do that, you find out what muscles to clench. We do the same muscles in my yoga class, it's just a slightly different approach. One lady who does them regularly reckons she could stop peeing mid-flow straight after the birth of her fourth child! So it's worth persevering.

DH and I swapped sides after I found out I was pg so I could get used to it as my usual side is next to the wall so no good for getting to LO in the night!

P.S. I don't think you can consciously control muscles in your cervix so that shouldn't be a worry! Pelvic floor exercises are vital, I always remember a tutor at nursing college going on about how wonderful they were and that if you did them everyday forever you would probably never have any leaks! Give it a try!

Blimey that is dedicated!

I never heard of back to fronts and side to sides though?

Well I realised I was more worried about pooing after labour than I was about labour  It's not quite back to front :rotfl: it's back, then front, and then you move on to the vagina where you do the side to side and the up and down one lol. Because it's a yoga thing it's going to be slightly different to normal PVE's, but it will be exercising the same muscles, just perhaps slightly more of them. The yoga instructor still calls them PVE's though. It's very funny being in a room full of fatties all concentrating on their PVE's lol. She gets us to crouch and then lean forward on our hands so we can focus better lololol. Luckily we only have to do 10 of each in class, oooo and we finish off by doing 10 all together's with an extra hold at the end . OH reckons my baby is going to shoot out, hope he's right lol.

I also read that you shouldnt sleep on your back but I've found that my boobs were so sore that even on my side they hurt and I can only get comfortable on my back, also found that to roll over I now have to sit up to turn over and my OH wakes up in a panic every time, sytill told him only another 5 months to go!!!!!!!!

Hi

Im the same constantly rolling on my back, with my last preg we had tons of pillows in the bed, to keep me from rolling and if i did go on my back it was okay cuz i had half on bed half on pillow if that makes sense, now i only have one extra pillow, so will need to invest in some i guess lol
