Just washed the sleeping bags I got from Tesco and looked on the label for the washing instructions and it says not to use them with babies under 7lb 7oz. Wish they put info like this a bit bigger instead of in tiny writing on the label  . Luckily Connie weighs more than this now but she was 7lb so been using them when she was too small for it. Wonder why it's not advised for smaller for babies  .

Think its becos the hole for the head is far too big so could slip off or baby could move down and cos too big end up in sleeping bag IYKWIM? Someone else will prob explain better

As above. Small babies can slip down.

FWIW most sleeping bags are from 10lb upwards and only from 7lb 7oz if stated on the label. Hence most 10lb ones not being suitable for newborns and people getting the 7lb 7oz size. We specifically got ones from the smaller weight even though we knew we were probably going to have a larger baby. As it was LO was an ounce short of 10lb and would have been fine in 10lb plus ones from the off.

FWIW when we got our sleeping bags it did state clearing on the packing about the weight aspect etc. Ours came from Mothercare.
