Single Mum by Choice

What do you think?

I personally think that it's wrong- and even more so that she has hired a nanny to look after the child she desperately wanted

is this kinda related to the mother of the octuplets and other 6?

Kind of, link focuses on single career women in their 30's/40's who are getting pregant from sperm donations

Have sorted it now :)

I take it it costs to get a baby from a sperm donation thing, how much is it, does anybody know?

I think planning to be a single mother is fine with certain exceptions.

I think there should be an age limit, in case mothers are going in at 50+ ages asking for a donation and then either being in bd health or passing while the child is young. Now I know there is a chance of that with everybody, but would it be higher with 50+ women?

Also I think that if they are purposely becoming a single parent, there should be an assessment of some sort to check the are ready to be a single parent.

Thats just my opinions though, dont want to offend anyone. :) xx

long as the kids looked after, fed, watered and protected from scum then hey ho, do what u like!

peoples parenting ideals arent top of my priorities tbh, gd luck to the older women who are poppin em out at 40 odd - my mam was 40somethin when I made her a nanny :rotfl: :rotfl:

yeah, that is just WRONG!!! poor bloke, they should have thought about the financial shizz that comes with poppin sprogs out :shakehead: :shakehead:

An ex of a friend of mine has 5 kids (2 with him) and the other 3 are from Sperm donations when she was single

I don't have a problem with it if they have thought it through. As has been said many times before a baby doesn't need 2 parents, but it does need a parent that loves it, can provide for it and doesn't see it as an inconvenience. So, if these women have reached a point where they haven't met the right man, but their biological clock is ticking and they have always wanted children then best of luck to them. At least they should be financially able to support a child. It is better imo than very young girls making themselves single mums by choice so that they get a house, don't have to work etc. I know loads of people I went to school with that did this.

ah yeah, its the flip side to the 'young qualification-less chav sink estate girl gettin preggas for a flat' coin - the 'older, had career, got mortgage, paid taxes but biological clock tickin away' side!!

wow, society is so diverse isnt it?!

She didn't have the option of waiting to meet Mr Right and fall in love and all the stuff that follows before family planning starts coming into the picture, she is a lesbian. She did the right thing by going to a sperm bank and starting a family by her own choice. She didn't do anything illegal or morally wrong, unless you have something against lesbians and their right to have children, but thats a whole other thread....

I can't see what the problem is with the story? The 2 women who used a man with promises of not making him pay and then turned round and made him pay is plain evil and nasty but then he shouldn't have agreed to it in the first place.

Totally agree with Lou

What's wrong with it? She's a career woman and she has the financial means to support the child whilst she works. As long as the child is loved, where's the problem?

The sperm donor being made to pay is another matter entirely

I suppose you could argue that even a lesbian should be in a stable loving relationship before starting a family, so from that aspect yes I can see a moral issue, but if the sperm banks are there and she is free to use them then its the system that has (debatable) flaws and not the actual ladies motives. She's just utilising the service available to her

pah, each to their own... i think everyone has a 'right' to be a parent and that it isn't selfish to want that. Todays society 'allows'/see's a lot worse than single mums who are not in a stable relationship (i don't think i have worded that right, but you catch my drift).

i think everyone should have the chance to experience what it feels like to hold their child in their arms!
