Im so upset, I was in B&Q today with baby Joe. We came out and I put him in the car and the bag on the car floor. I shut the car door and walked 2 seconds away to the trolley park and back.

This old man walks byt the car and starts shouting at me saying its illegal to leave a baby in the car with no window down and that I was a bad mum. He obviously assumed that I had been in the shop and left him.

What a rude man, I was so upset, I still am. What a f**ker.

I told him that he wasnt left alone and what did it have to do with him anyway and got back in the car or I would have started ranting.

I know but I started to doubt myself. Should I even have left him in the car despite the fact I was 2 seconds away. I even locked the door. He was never out my sight. Why are people so quick to judge.

I put schmieran in the car then run back inside if I've forgotten something, its not like he was there for long, dont worry hun, you know you're not a bad mother!

it was an old man firstly.
they always try to find things to pick at
and you were gone 2 seconds its not like you did leave him in the car alone
if you had of left the window down he would of said that someone could have stolen him or something stupid

dont worry hunni

  I had something similar a while ago, my OH came out though and the guy p1ssed off

oh i hate bothering old people like that.

i had a run in with one before.... when alana was about 9 months old we had just been to play group, and she always took her socks off, but by the end of the session we could not find her socks any where.

i had to quickly go from my car to the bank to do some thing, like was outside all of 2 mins and alana had bare feet, it was winter so i know it must of looked bad having a baby outside with nothing on her feet, but this old woman came right up to me and started going off on one in front of every one  i was in total shock, i was speachless and when she carried on all i could say was "f**k off" which was a bit rude of me but what can u say when some one is shouting at you????? :wall:

Old people arent happy if they arent complaining.

When Josh was 3 mths old (and the size of a 1 month old as he was prem) he had his first op and had both his legs in plaster. I took him out and was feeding him and 2 old women on the next table started tutting loudly and commenting how "he didn't get those broken legs by running around did he" "these teenage mums don't know how to look after a baby.."

Now I'd have the confidence to turn around, tell them to pi$$ off and make loud sarcastic comments myself, as a 19 yr old brand new mum I slunk off feeling as though I'd done something wrong. Even now it makes me mad to think about it

My consolation?

They're almost definatly dead by now :rotfl:

Oh I know what you are saying but I wouldnt have given this old duffer the satisfaction of seing me lose the plot. All the way home I was thinking I should turn back but I didnt I kept going.
If I had started swearing at him I would have played right into his hands. But by god I have done a fair bit of swearing since I got home recalling the story to dh.

Awww hun, you know what you did was ok, I think we've all left LO in the car whilst putting the trolley in the trolley park - you're damned if you do and damned if you don't - he'd prob have still had something to say if you hadn't returned the trolley and had left it in the middle of the car park...am i right?!
I've left Lib in the car whilst I put the trolley away

yeah ive always left alana in the car when getting petrol etc i always make sure im at the pump nearest the door and never take my eye off the car.

theres just no pleasing every one, were all great mums and we do the right thing for our babies.

When my eldest was a baby I was walking along quite happily pushing her pram, with her asleep, when an old man stopped me and started saying how beautiful she was. I wasnt worried about him being creepy as, well, he wasnt creepy and its a different generation, but then he started tickling her chin and I pushed his arm away as I didnt want her to wake up - he started shouting all kind of abuse at me saying "what the hell did you think I was going to do" etc and going on about how the younger generation are too mistrusting, I had to shout at him to make myself heard but said something along the lines of "Shes my baby and if I dont want some stinky oldman waking her up then thats MY choice!" and stormed off!

A friend of mine was in macdonalds with her little ones once who were about 4 and 6, and they went to the counter to get a balloon, and one of them accidently ran into an old woman and she slapped him round the head! You can imagine my friend went barmy, I wasnt there but her description of events was full of swear words

But they are not all like that, its just some, my children have had about 3 "adopted" grandparents who were lovely elderly nieghbours :)
