WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!!!! I was induced last week on Friday 30th December at 8am, 1 weeks early due to high Blood Pressure. I came home after being induced and relaxed for a few hours. At around 1pm I started getting really strong contractions and only a few minutes apart. I was not due to go back to the hospital until 2pm but I started to get nervous and went back for 1pm. I was then in amazing pain so I asked for an epidural, which only took about 20 minutes to kick in. Although when the epidural was put in it was not working it was making my right jump all around the place. The took it out and RE-DID the epidural. So there I laid waiting and watching my stomach tighten more and more, faster and faster. After about 30 minutes the epidural started to make me short of breath as it was numb all the way to my neck on my right side, this should not have happened. I could not feel the side of my neck, they bought ice cubes to check out where I had feeling and it was not a good thing... They could not do anything but wai until it wore off. That only took about 20 more minutes, then I felt better.
My doctor went home (remember this is a small town!!) My partner went home to shower as he had been with me through this whole process. At 6:45 pm I began to feel pains in my lower back area (bum) this pain was nothing I had read about or been prepared for (I assumed an eipdural would take he pain away, silly me!!!!!!) Those pains were beoming stronger and stronger The midwife called the doctor and my partner from the room to get straight back to the hospital. They both arrived within 10 minutes and my baby boy was born at 7:32. I had stitches and they were (are) not painful at all. After being stitched up I had a shower, and walked with my partner and baby out of the delivery room to see all my family, it was really nice!!!
When they put the baby on my chest after the birth, the feelings were overwhelming to me. That was definately a moment in time. And no matter how painful this whole thing was, the pain was gone when I saw my baby. The most painful parts were when I started pushing.. and those breaks between contractions are the best of all LOL.
Here in Australia you stay in hospital for up to 5 days. That was fantastic, I had my own room with two beds and my partner was able to stay with me at night, baby was always in my room and I was able to leave the hospital for coffee, when the midwifes would babysit. The whole thing was just awsome. If the baby was crying through anypart of the night and I was unable to sleep, they would take him to another room across the hall, so that I could sleep, they would only wake me to feed him. This only happened once though as I have very placid/peaceful baby.
I would post pics but I am not wanting to post him on the internet site. I don't think it is right for me to do that, just a personal thing. Also, I have kept the last name private.
Hope you are all well and now I have lots of info to read regarding your pregnancies and early deliveries.
