Is anyone else struggling as much as me with self settling....? Joshua just will not do it hes 13 weeks. If he doesnt fall asleep with the bottle at bedtime it will takje us literally two ish hours of constant rocking and puting him back down and offering the boob. He wont nap in the day unless hes on his swing Im trying the cot but he crys as soon as I leave theroom and then laughs when I come back because he knows hes been cheeky....I get so cross with him and Im loosing the will to live. I annot and will not let him cio yet or do cc because hes too young in my eyes. Do I just have to lump it until he either decides todo it or is an age I feel is acceptable to do other methods. Im going insane......:wall2:

Hey hun my LO didn't self settle until 6 months! Sorry :-/ think they're just too little at first and need mummy close! Have you considered a sling/wrap? At least in the day you could get things done xx

Harrison is 11 weeks and he is a bit hit or miss, he gets over stimulated (would get over stimulated by a lank wall!!) so we watch for when he is tired and put him in his pram to take him away from the stimulation, sometimes he just drops off but other times he cries, if he cries then I pick him up and cuddle him to sleep. I think they are too young to cry to sleep and to be honest I dont think that they have a nice relaxing sleep if they have been crying!!
xxx

There's a thread below. I give Tyler a lot of opportunity to take himself off as I put him in his cot every hour 1/2-2 hours he usually complains. If he starts getting towards crying I put his light show on, if he crys after that I do pick up put down and generally if he's not down by then I'll feed. I'll do half the feed outside then bring him onto my bed for the rest as he'll go off. Depending on his mood depends on what stage he'll go down. I think the important thing is to make sure they have the opportunity.

Have you tried the White Noise app? This has been a godsend for us! x

The other thing is to catch them at the first sign of tiredness or they get over tired....as soon as I see a yawn or running of the eyes she goes down :)

It will happen hun keep up the good
Work....LO just wants mummy at the mo that's all xx

I think if you do it every nap time (like I'm attempting) I think eventually they give up iykwim? I hope anyway as that's the way I'm playing it! Don't think your shit. They need to sleep we need a break!

Your not a shit mum!

You poor thing don't be so hard on your self savannah is nearly 8 months and has only started self settling for the last month or so... Now shes struggling to do it again. She never once self settled until 6 months at least.

It's just one of those things that sometimes takes time. Everyone tried to get LO's into good habits early and thats great! But sometimes they just wont do these things until they are ready

There is light at the end of the tunnel. I've been doing this since last Thursday and today he self settled 3 times fed to sleep once. Hang on in there!
