Does anyone else suffer from this sort of back pain, or know anything about it? I saw a physio on Wed and she told me this is definitely what I'm suffering from and that I can order a maternity support belt designed to support this part of my back.

I just want to know if anyone has any other practical tips to help ease it and stop it getting any worse, and also whether it will affect my labour. Resting is obviously not an option as I have a full time job and a 15 month old to look after....!!!!

Thanks in advance

I suffer from 'non-specific' back pain and have since a bad fall while snow-boarding 7 years ago. It occurs daily since being pregnant. I dont know how your condition feels buti got some gel from my gp which my OH's mum uses for her arthritus! but it works quite well. My old bed didnt help because the base was so old it bowed in the middle so the matress was sloped. we'v ordered a new one and are currently sleeping on the matress directly on the floor which is so much better than the old bed.

You may have tried these things already tho. Hope you find something that helps

I'm no expert but my sister had some pain to do with her sacrum when she was pregnant and that is your "tail bone"!! Is the pain right at the base of your spine? She had to sit on cushions etc as it was painful to sit.......does this sound similar?

Hiya - thanks for the response ladies

Ali - I had problems with my tailbone last time and got a cushion which helped loads. This is really different - it's to the right of my tailbone and feels more like sciatica except the pain stays in my bum-cheek and doesn't shoot down my leg.
