Apart from quitting smoking which is monumentally hard for me, I've just realised that I won't be allowed to dye my hair (still a no-no right?), have my Botox or get my Foo Dog finished!

Should explain that my Foo Dog is a massive tattoo of a chinese Foo dog all down my left ribs. Has been 16 hours of tattooing so far.. with maybe one more hour to go! Nooooooo!

Please tell me I can still paint my nails and wear funny coloured eyeshadow.. otherwise it's going to be harder than I thought :rotfl:

Haha! Love it...when I read foo dog I had all sorts of images in my head!!! I can't dye my hair either, and my roots were soooo bad already!!! How are you getting on with the smoking? Did you manage to just stop completely?x

You can still dye your hair but the hormone changes might affect the colour so you have to get colour and sensitivity tests done even if you've had that colour before. You can paint your nails, wear make up etc x

Shame about the tattoo! You can get it finished after though x

Nope, haven't stopped yet :( Only got my bfp Saturday so early days still.

I tried quitting last time, but found it just too hard. I had the most miserable week of my life, when I didn't smoke at all, then mc-ed three weeks later. I'm convinced it was partly stress related. Am going to speak to GP today.. see what help I can get :D

I'm down from 20 a day to around 5 or so.. and if I can get it down to 2 or 3 I think I'd be happy with thst. I know it's not ideal and I do feel awful smoking while pg... but I'm still not convinced that the massive increase in my stress levels from trying to quit smoking last time were more harmful than a cigarette occasionally.

Or I could just be filling my head full of nonsense because I'm not strong enugh to quit. Will see what the doc says..

Big congrats to everyone who HAS quit while pg.. any tips MUCH appreciated xxx

as helen said, you can still dye hair, but the colour might be a little different. they do advise no bleaching though if you can avoid it...

definately no tattoos, although it sounds like a stunner. can we see a piccy lol xx

Loving this thread.
Hair dying is a huge problem, my roots are soooo long, mousy blonde against bleached blonde makes my natural colour look so greasy :( x x

Ah, yes the week after I found out I cut down to about 8 per day, then gradually I am now down to 2 or 3 a day (most days) but I also feel sooooo guilty!!! I've set myself a goal of stopping completely by Monday... x

Luckily I don't smoke, drink or dye my hair! (I sound like such a bore, i'm not honest! :) )

Must suck trying to give stuff up though!!

Best of luck quitting wishuponastar! :)

Thanks hun. My baby deserves me to quit so I'm determined!!!x

Like a couple of girls have said, you can still dye your hair, it might not go the same colour though although ive not had any problems but did wait until 12 weeks until i did dyed my hair!
With smoking, well done for cutting down. I quit while pregnant with my daughter but only because i was so bad with morning sickness i couldn't smoke as well as being ill!! x x

Don't know if you've considered it but my OH had hypnotherapy to stop smoking and it worked like a charm. He went from about 20 a day down to zero with one session. It cost about £100 but was well worth it (and cheap in the longrun considering how much he used to spend on fags!).

That sucks about the foo dog. I was planning a new tattoo down my ribs but have had to shelve the idea now the cub's on its way!

i knew i wasnt really supposed to use relaxer on my hair (opposite of perming solution) but i just had to do it :-( feel bad now! I have a short hair cut though - same as frankie from the saturdays if youve ever seen her - so i couldnt let it grow curly!!!

I did quit smoking straight away though so very proud of myself for doing that x

I dyed my hair when i was 7 weeks ish and it came out fine, and babys fine xD xxx

Get a pedicure & have your nails Minxed. It'll save you from having to keep painting them (which is impossible with a big belly cos you can't see them!)
As for smoking, my friend cut down to between 3-5 a day & had 2 really healthy & good weight (both 9lb+). She normally smoked 30 a day - her midwife said as a heavy smoker it was advisable not to give them up completely.
We all make sacrifices both when pregnant & after our babies arrive, so getting used to it is probably a good idea x

i had to stop dying my hair when i was pregnant first time cos i reacted to the dye, which was the same one id used in the past! was awful growing out my purple hair  now its completely natural and i actually really like the colour! i was lucky and gave up the fags as soon as i found out, but i couldnt stop the drinking

I have always been told that dyeing hair is fine, and i am with you on the smoking its so hard especially when you have miscarried after my 4th i had 4 miscarraiges in a row and everytime i gave up smoking just before, also everytime i gave up smoking with my 3rd i bled heavily, my waters broke at 22 weeks after another attempt i just stayed at smaking about 3 a day, i know these were probably coincidental but you cant help thinking. I am now from 20 a day tp about 3/4 so i am happy with that at the moment and been reffered to a smoking counciller.

you forgot to mention give up your body lol

Hehehe loving all the replies :D And glad I'm not the only smoker.. I feel a little better knowing it's not just me that's finding it nigh on impossible.

Will try and get a pic of my Foo Dog tomorrow.. although it's not easy taking decent pics of your own ribs lol

The hair dye thing is a worry.. I'm going so grey!!! And my hair is naturally dark, but dyed pillar box red.. so is really noticeable. The dye my hairdressser uses has peroxide in it too... so I may have to look for an alternative. Is henna safe does anyone know?

Right, I'm supposed to lying on sofa while hubby walks dogs and I'll be in trouble if he finds me at computer. Lots of rest is doc's orders and Hubby is taking it very seriously

Have a lovely evening ladies.. see you all tomorrow  xxx

I have read loads of up to date books which say you can dye your hair, but they suggest highlights rather than peroxide on scalp all over jobs. I am still having my highlights done.... Don't want to look a fright for all the new baby pics!

Highlights might not be a bad idea.. thanks Nanc :D
Still smoking :( Have had two today already but am a bit nervous about driving lesson in half an hour! If any of you are in Gloucestershire.. STAY OFF THE ROADS  xxx
