I just got a letter saying that Im not immune and I should avoid coming into contact with the virus. I work in a hospital and spend a lot of time on the chidlrens ward so Im a bit worried about this.

I had the immunisation and the booster when I was in high school. :wall2:Pointless injections!

Has anyone else had this? I thought when I started working for NHS (5 years ago) that I was checked for immunity for all these things. The only booster I needed was Hep B.

i wasnt immune when i had issablle and before i left the m1 ward they injected me lol!! nice departure . . wait a min i need to jab you - huh! -wa - OUCH wtf!!!! - - - thanks now sign here!!! :rotfl:

Can you get them to check again? I'm surprised they haven't checked already if you're working in a hospital, although I suppose it's nothing to worry about if you're not pregnant - all I was checked for an immunised against were infections transmitted in blood.

If you've been working there and in contact with kids all this time and haven't caught it chances are you won't in the next few months (I'm sure that doesn't stop you worrying though) or you are already immune and theur result was wrong.

Is the vaccine an attenuated virus one? I assume there's nothing they can give you now? Sorry for being absolutely no help at all but I hope everything's ok :hug:

ah thanks for that, good to know.

Ive just done some rummaging and found my Occupational health certificate of immunisation, Ill quote;

Rubella and Varicella

Blood Test Date; 22/09/04 Identified, Validated Sample
Result

that send before I pressed (?)

Result Immune.

So confused. Im gonna take the 2 letters to the midwife apointment! WTF?!

Sounds like their test might have been wrong. I hope so anyway x

Well one of them must have been wrong surely (?) Im hoping its the most recent one cos if the test was wrong 5 years ago I wont be at all impressed! Ive put a call out for medically trained friends to come forward on facebook :)

Hope you find out soon. I assume immunity doesn't decrease with time or we'd all get called back for boosters?

thats what I thought. Looks like Ill be giving more blood to get to the bottom of this. Im moving in a few weeks so will prob just ask for a 2nd opinion then. They will prob want to retake bloods anyway.
