 hi girls, I saw my midwife two weeks ago and she took lots of blood samples to find out my blood group, HIV, Rubella etc. All came back fine, but my urine sample reads " Heavy mixed growth" and they want me to bring another sample. Should I be worried? Does it suggest I have some bacteria in my urine?

I havent heard of that before sorry!
I think i will google now though! :D

I just googled and couldnt find anything in particular but I do think it is to do with bacteria in the urine! Maybe an UTI?

Thanks hun. I had had a look and couldn't find anything either. I am going to hospital for scan on Friday so can ask then.. I don't know if I can wait for so long

Im sure if it was something bad they would have made you go to see the doc straight away!!
Im sure everything will be fine! Maybe you could call and speak to your doc and ask to put your mind at ease??

Hi  , i think i can actually help with this one, since i was 9 (im 20 now) i have suffered with chronic UTI's and cystitis. I generally get at least once a month. Do you have any symptons sorry to be graphic but low stomach pain, intense burning when you have a wee, lower back ache, going to the loo every couple of minutes but not being able to pass much?
If you do then chances are you have a water infection (UTI) but you can also have an infection without symptoms. The only way to clear up the infection is by taking anti biotics. the symptoms can be controlled with over the counter products but i find that if i only use these it wil return time after time.
They may need to do a second test because a UTI can sometimes have very low levels of bacteria that dont always show up on a test or may be difficult to see exactly what it is.
You shouldnt worry, they are very comon im actually on another forum for UTI sufferers - i have a thing about forums lol.

Its also very common during pregnancy but iv noticed its not really talked about on here for some reason.
I hope you find that helpfull if i theres anything else that you want to know that i might be able to help with please ask.

please dont worry, all will be sorted soon :)

Thank you for your messages.

Keelie - I don't have any symptoms and I have never had UTI. only three days and I will know more. Thanks for your advise
