Really just need some advice

We aren't trying to concieve yet but about 3 weeks ago I started feeling sick after eating. I went to the doctors and after a conversation about a weird period last month. The doctor told me he thought I'd miscarried but that he suspected that I was pregnant. It was so confusing but felt kinda right because normally my periods are very predictable and this month iv had none of my normal symptoms. Iv taken two early pregnancy tests both negative and my periods due Sunday but iv started spotting. I guess I just need to know if this sounds normal for either a pregnancy or a first period after a miscarriage since iv not experienced either before. Thanks in advance
