Quick help

My vision has just gone weird. I can see, but there is like a diamondy blurred shape to the left, it seems to be coming from neither eye, but when both eyes open it's still there.

I'm scared, my blood pressure was normal last Thursday, I have been having swelling but I know that is normal, pins and needles in my hands is getting quite bad.

Should I call the hospital? Am I just being neurotic? Worried abou pre-eclampsia!!!

What would every one do? I hate going to the hospital as I always feel in the way, evven though they never make you feel bad. I can't go to my gp coz they are shit lol and when asked how ttc was going when I was 7 months pregnant with my son (measuring 9 months) I have NO faith in them!

Hi Hun could u not call your midwife ? Always better to b safe than sorry and woul probably put your mind at rest xxx

I get exactly this Maria, I have put it down to aura migraine as it is not accompanied with a headache. However i have no other symptoms, if you are experiencing swelling as well I would call hospital as the flashing you get with aura migraine can be similar to that of pre eclampsia. Don't want to panic you but better to be safe. Mine usually subsides after 20 mins or so, I lie down in a dark room. Hope you are ok xx

I should add I have phoned hospital in past when I started getting them and had my bp checked so I know it is not pre eclampsia in my case x

Am on hold to cds, they want me to go over, but to MAU which aren't answering the phone atm

Am shaking with nerves lol, probably not helping. Came on out of nowhere and has been like it for 40 mins now. Started at 12pm, thought it was coz I'd looked at the light without realising lol, but then it won't go away.

Phoned OH after posting this thread and he said just call them be more stupid of me not to and something bad happens!

Well cds can't get through to mau as they are on lunch - wtf lol - said call my MW. I would've done this first, but clinic is on thursdays and if not that day impossible to get hold of. So come off the phone and called her, surprise her phone diverts and whoever it is diverted to is not answering and has no voicemail service.

The severe blurring has cleared up but my vision seems funny, hard to explain but not crisp like usual, but nothing I could describe easily - know that makes no sense lol

Don't know what to do now???

Did you try lying with eyes closed in a dark room? Maybe you try that for 15 min? Of it still continues then A&e?

It does sound like what I get, I know what you mean by vision not seeming as crisp but I would still try and speak to someone just to be on the safe side xx I was told to phone labour ward if I was worrying about anything like this in the future, they really won't mind x

Just thought, my gp surgery has a blood pressure machine just off the waiting room so OH now gonna come get me and take me there, that way if it's up I can call cds back and at least I don't need to see a gp to get it done!

My MW is fab, when you see her, but getting hold of her outside of clinic day is near impossible so I could be waiting for a call back for hours, or even til tomorrow, if whoever the phone is diverted to returns missed calls!

I just feel bad as they are so busy, I know it's better to be safe than sorry though. Will go to my surgery and use their machine to take my blood pressure, if up will defo call them back and go over there.

Now gonna look up about blood pressures lol Defo neurotic now lol

My mw is exactly the same! It can be frustrating, esp when some people seem to be given a direct mobile number for theirs! Not fair! Good thinking on getting bp checked, keep us updated xx you may also have low blood sugar, have you eaten today? x

Continuously since I woke up lol

I do have my MWs mobile, that's why it's so annoying. Unless clinic day, whenever I've called (which isn't often tbf) it's always diverted. What's the point in having it?

Just checked my notes for my BP and it's usally around 128/74, and looked up that high is around 140/90+ so I'm all set to self diagnose lol

I agree with WeeFoggy - I get something that sounds just like that. Mine are sort of jagged shard shapes and have rainbow colours - an optical migraine with aura. Very unsettling and not nice. I find that mine just disappear after a while and I get a faint headache afterwards. Hopefully that's all it is. xxx

Hope you are ok must have been quite frightening. I agree, much better to be safe than sorry and get it checked. If you have no luck wiht MW or cds, can you speak to a triage nurse on the labour ward?

Am on mau. Gp was up at surgery so came over. Have.had bloods taken and am just sat here waiting now. Will update when I know more xx

I've also been getting blurry vision, and often I think I see something out of the corner of my eye, but theres nothing there! I've heard that pg can cause problems with vision, and that its generally nothing to worry about. I would deffo get checked out tho just to be safe, how hard is it for someone just to check your bp and protein levels?
