It's not silly at all hun. I'm getting ready to treat it too as I've been ill for about 8 weeks now with a ghastly virus that then turned into a sinus infection which I've had for about 10 days so I've given in and started the antibiotics today as it's meaning that I can't sleep for the pain
. I'm very prone to thrush with antibiotics so I know it's going to be an issue and yes you can pass it on to the baby although it's not serious and can be treated. My plan is to try and clear it before I get there though! Ok so my self help plan goes like this:-
wear loose clothes on your bottom half, not tight trousers or tights and wear cotton pants or even better no pants at all and if no one is looking get some air to your bits as thrush loves warm and dark places
drink lots of water
wash yourself with tepid water several times a day- especially after a poo. I also put some drops of Tea Tree oil in the bath to help too- that is so soothing if it's very itchy and sore
use a cream that's got a high % of anti-fungal in it- the 2% rather than the 1%
better still if it's ok with your midwife then use a pessary that you can get from any chemist. They come as tablets that crumble or cream in an applicator. Personally I prefer the cream as I get so dry up there that the tablets sometimes don't really crumble properly. These are at about 10% concentration of active ingredient and are so so much more efficient than the creams which really just help the itching rather than curing a problem but I would phone your midwife first before using them just in case.
get yourself a pro-biotic tablet that is strong to help replace the good bacteria. Most supermarket ones are pretty useless, the best is Dr Udo's Super 8 which is pricey but worth every penny, I'm going to hunt some down tomorrow but usually health food shops would do this or you can get it easily online.
cut down or cut out sugar, yeast and fermented food and drinks. Bit of a blow given that it's Xmas but if you're really having problems shifting it then this will really help believe me. Thrush loves sugar and yeast and so giving it some just feeds it which you don't want. This is a bit hardcore but it helps if you can bear it.
Good luck with shifting it hun. I'll be there with you I'm pretty sure- I had it all through my first tri and it was ghastly but it went after several pessaries and the other measures above.

p.s. you can pass it on to your OH as well by the way although it's much harder for men to tell if they have it. When I went to the Dr about it he gave my OH some cream as well as me just in case otherwise you can end up passing it to each other. What fun eh?
*************EDIT: OMG- just looked at how pregnant you are hun! I would phone your midwife before using any pessaries etc and see what they say first, don't be embarrassed, it's so so common, and even more common in pregnancy**********
