OK, so I have had really long periods (35-50 days) and my DH and I are TTC so I went to the Dr. and she proscribed progesterone and told me to take it the last ten days of the month.

I am really confused. Will this help me get pregnant? Does it affect ovulation? If I am only ovulating once every 35 to 50 days what will this do to me to take it the last 10 days each month?

HELP!

Welcome to the pregnancyforum.co.uk :)

I dont know much at all about how progesterone aids TTC but as I understand it, it doesnt help you ovulate but more helps to sustain a pregnancy once you have ovulated.....how have you been advised to use it?

:D

Yes. Have you tried using OPKs or temping to pin point your O?

In my first 4 pregnancies I was on progesterone. It was used to help me sustain my pregnancies as my levels were very low and therefore I was at a higher risk of miscarriage.

I'm not sure how it would work before hand but I'm guessing the sooner it's used then the more effective it will be. I'm pretty sure it won't affect ovulation though.

I hope it works for you :) They are pretty stingey injections :(

It was prescribed to me in pill form. I am to take it every day for ten days, the last ten days of the month.

Ahhh I'm guessing its to help thicken the lining of the uterus so that implantation can take place :) As soon as you'd get your positive pregnancy they'd probably stop it :)
